Missed deadline for RFE

So I have a question about my case.....

I went to my interview for my AOS with my husband, and at the end of the interview she asked us for documents I didn't have with me so she gave me a RFE to return 30 days later (jan30-saturday).

I did return it on the same day but for mailing reasons, which was my fault, it came back to my address one day before the deadline, so the local office never received it. So on Jan 29, I ran to the post office and sent it back using the certified mail. The package was delivered on Tuesday at my local uscis office on feb 2. However I personally went there on Monday (feb 1) with another package with the same evidences and with a letter telling them what happened.

So, the mail was delivered on feb 2 and uscis updated my case status online saying they "received my correspondence and uscis is reviewing it". My question is: does that mean they accepted it even if was 3 days past the deadline and added it to my case or it just means that they got the package but I can't think yet that they updated the evidences to my case???

Also: my deadline was on Saturday (in case it just changes the deadline to next business day) and I personally delivered my evidences on Monday at the office, before they got the package in the mail on Tuesday, just to make sure this time they would get it. Also read on their website that they give 3 additional days when responding a RFE.

Can someone help??? I'm sooooooo worried!!!!!

Thanks

No worry friend. I used to have it delivered 15 days past the deadline and they still processed the RFE. It seemed like they did not enforce the rule very strictly. I bet you will not have any problem at all. Relax.

Failing to respond to an RFE by its deadline is often an automatic denial.

Will it be in this case? No way to tell.

Usually it's an automatic denial but since you both personally delivered it with an explanation as well as sent it in with a letter explaining what happened you might get lucky. I'm hoping for the best for you and your partner, good luck!
