My husband has been on Administrative Processing since November . Yesterday he received via courier a document from the embassy that asks him to obtain a Movement Certificate. We called the place where he was suppose to get this from yesterday and they said that it takes 1 day to get it. When he arrived today and they found out that he was going to the USA - the timeline grew to not less than 15 days. After he received the document, I called the embassy to see how long after the embassy receives this document to the finishing of the visa process and they said that because of the amount of people going through Cairo now, the times have increased. He gave me an estimate of 6 months in total more. I'm just sick - I thought we were so close. So for all those going through Cairo - I really recommend that you obtain the Movement Certificate. This shows the embassy where specifically the person applying for the visa has traveled. Get this - for all the other folks that were at theis office today - they were told to come back and pick up their completed documents tomorrow. How funny is that?

It just amazes me how each consulate has such a different list of documents to obtain (read: hoops to jump through). I hope this is resolved quickly for you and the wait is very short!

We were in administrative processing for almost 9 months on a K-1. I really don't know all the reasons why Cairo moves so slowly. They are very methodical but one thing most of us can attest to that have dealt with them, at least they are not denial-happy. It seems to me there have been recent changes in Cairo's standard operating procedures and I sure wish I had more time to investigate that. I know the waiting is difficult, believe me. I also know how frustrating having your future at the mercy of bureaucracy is. But it does eventually come to closure and the day will come when it will be a like a bad dream you can put behind you as you build your new life with your husband. Take one day at a time. Try to put the visa process out of your mind as much as possible and one day your hubby will call you and say "I have the visa!" I still can't believe Moh is here sometimes. I'm still a bit numb from it all. Hang in there and feel free to pm me if you need someone to vent to.

No word has been mentioned as of yet from the embassy about a second interview. I'm just hoping the DOS was wrong.

My husband got one of those lovelies, too. He left for Cairo this morning for it. Then in 15 glorious days will be off again to pick it up. That is if it's finished in the time they promised. I'm pretty much numb at this point.

For those of you who have asked...you must get it at the passport office.

I find it quite amuzing that they can't get that info on their own. It's the gubment for cryin' out loud.

Hmmmm wonder what they'll come up with once this is taken care of. Jumping through hoops of fire perhaps?
