Mailed out the I-130!!! I thought I would feel relieved but I just feel anxious... (Did I forget something, did I do something wrong?) I guess it's this way at the beginning then you kind of ease into the whole process and see how long of a journey it really is... At least we have each other on Visajourney, right? lol

What do you mean about "the domicile is worrying me"? Are you filing within the US or filing from abroad?

It is usually not possible to open a bank account in the US from abroad. I found out that my bank in Brazil has an affilliate in the U.S. so for account holder's in Brazil they are allowed to open from abroad an account at their affiliate because my identity has been verified from here already.

I am filling from abroad and have been living here in Bosnia since 2008.

So, if you know someone who has a checkbook of an american bank and they can write you a check that would help you to get the ball rolling. It is recommended that you travel to the US to open your bank account, get a voter ID, drivers license, register your kids in an american school.. some people go as far as to take out a lease on a car and an apartment, these things will help you to prove "intent to reestablish domicile" which will be needed at the NVC stage.

Personally I plan to travel in April to establish these things. The only down side is that there is a bigger chance of my wife being withheld at Point of entry because of our ongoing immigrant petition. But we will take that risk an buy tickets for us both for a one month visit.

Also we have someone who will let us live in their house for however long we need while we get our own place. Also I might get a job offer too if everything goes well!

Carefully read through this thread... I think it will help you http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/164618-proving-domicile-when-not-living-in-the-us/

The best thing would be to travel to the US before sending the NVC package right?? I was not planning on it to travel to US. Is it possible to enroll my daughter in US school online. Regarding the lease of a apartment it is hard since we do not know how long the stage will take when exactly we will move. We also have someone that will let us live in their house till we lease a apartment. I am also hoping to have a job offer by then. O men I am slowly getting a panic attack....I guess if needed I will travel to the US I will have to.

So, now that our case is on the online tracking system, I have been checking it like crazy. So far it says "my case was received" with the information that a receipt notice has been sent and who to call if we don't receive that. Then it says "if we accept your case we will send ..." So, has the case been accepted at this stage or not? I thought received and accepted were the same. They open your package, make sure everything has been signed where it should be, take the payment and set up the file. Or have I misunderstood?

You will have to decide if you will travel to the US to establish some more proof. Unfortunately it is strongly recommended that you do. You could probably get a ton of stuff done in just a few days.I suggest you read throught the entire thread I sent to you do you can get a better feeling on your chances if you don't make the trip.

I don't know about enrolling children online but I'm sure you can find that out, and that is good evidence if you can.

Also have this person you will live with write a formal letter regarding the agreement you guys have that you will be staying with them for as long as you need.

A formal job offer can also be very helpful.

Severing ties to your country is also considered proof, such as selling a house.

The thread I sent the link to covers most of these issues, and you will notice that it really depends on WHO is analysing your case. Some people need little proof to no proof, some people need a lot. At Montreal people were having an extremely hard time with this issue. I think (I have no proof of this) that if you live overseas they would tend to be more lenient with the proof to reestablish domicile.

I have just sent in my I-130 package so I'm not even close to that phase but so far here is what I plan on doing so far:

- Proof of living arrangements with a friend

- Job offer and my acceptance of it.

- Proof of sale of estate in Brazil.

- New bank account and transfering funds.

- Getting a Driver's license

- Getting a voter ID

I will hopefully think of a few other things by then

I also just sent my I130 but I have to plan ahead because it is not that easy to travel to the US in short notice I work here in Bosnia and have to request time off. Other thing is that the ticket is expensive.

We will be filling taxes married for the last 3 years.

JFH my case is not online yet. I have been checking couple times a day...hihi. I think it should be online soon.

Mine still isn't online either (my NOA1 was 8-Feb-2016). I have a feeling we won't ever get to see ours in the system because the YSC receipt numbers are so new and I've seen reports that Potomac is having issues with the online system. Plus, the USCIS website still doesn't even mention Potomac as a service center. Not a good sign for those of us starting at Potomac from day 1 of our petitions.

My Convoluted Story (see my profile for more details)
Jun 2009 - Met on Facebook
Mar 2010 - Visited Morocco for the first time, got engaged
Dec 30, 2011 - Wedding in Morocco (5th visit)

May 2015 - Reconciliation
Nov 2015 - Vacation together in Spain (7th in-person visit with each other)
I-130/IR-1 (second time around)
4 Feb 2016 - Priority Date
19 Apr 2016 - NOA2

17 May 2016 - NVC Case Number Assigned
