February 2016 I-130 filers

Welcome to the thread. Yes, it is on average of 6 months. When you start AOS do you mean ...

Affidavit of Support used to bring you to the country...

Or Adjustment of Status where you are already in the States and filing...

If the Support option, you have no where to send it until the case moves past USCIS is at the NVC and is requested... though a fee is paid before getting the document that is to be included. (I believe this is correct, if not, please let me know.) At least I know they won't process the Support packet unless paid.

If Status, there are other steps I believe and it's called concurrent filing, which would not be this forum section. There is another section for that to help guide people through.

Hello Dal&Rose. Thank you for responding! I really appreciate your time.

My husband submitted Form I-130 in February and our priority date is February 29. My husband called yesterday and USCIS told him it takes 6 months. I just mailed my Form I-485 (Adjustment of Status) today. I could have mailed Form I-130 and I-485 together (concurrent filing) however we were still waiting for some documents for the I-485. I am in the U.S. for the past 10 years on an A-2 visa (working in a foreign government) and married a USC. Are you saying that the 6 months starts counting when we submit the Form I-485 (Adjustment of Status), and not the Form I-130?

Ahh okay. I'm not sure of timelines for adjustment of status and all that. It's completely different path.

You will want to explore the forums section below. They have adjustment of status posts from work visas.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/130-adjustment-of-status-from-work-student-tourist-visas/

They could also give you better timelines and answer any possible questions.

Welcome Gisselle!

Potomac is a bit random but shouldn't be out of the norm for all the service centers (excluding Cali) that it's between 5-6 months. You may want to follow the thread below for additional information on Potomac.

We are DCF since we are in a foreign country. At first they called us from the Embassy at 8 days to tell us there is a page missing but they have pre approved our i-130s, then they have us an RFE because my husband's divorce was not the "final" one... then we had to hunt for it since he got divorced in yet another country... now today they've asked us for the original German divorce.

I mena COME ON... we are married OBVIOUSLY he is divorced from his ex wife. We have kids together...

I am getting flustered because he is very sick and we are in Greece, there is a 30% unemployment rate, he can't get his medicine here and I am teacher. I need to be there over the summer months and interview for a position so I can start September!

Not to mention the kids need to do a summer class.

It's like the Embassy are making this up as they go along. Just send us ONE concentrated email with EXACTLY what it is you need and be done with it.

It doesn't help that everything needs to be translated also and the F.M. in Athens is the WORST civil office in the entire country. Slooow like molasses and rude like noone else. We have paid over $1000 in translations alone...plus $1300 for the I-130s in advance plus $400 in medicals... plus passports over $500..

I am just SO worried for my husband and kids... :(

Sorry about the typos, my phone has a weird keyboard!
