Also the visa is only good for as long as the medical. So, if you get the medical too soon, you may have a visa that is only good for a few weeks after approval.

 MEDICAL EXAMINATION: The IV unit will send you detailed information about Medical Examination Instructions in your Immigrant Visa Appointment Packet (Packet 4) once your Packet 3 is processed. Because the validity period of your visa is tied to the medical exam’s expiration date, applicants are cautioned not to schedule appointments too soon resulting in the medical exam expiring before the applicant’s desired travel period.

Hello, everyone happy to be part of the group. On February 22 the Phoenix lockbox received my package and three days later I received an e-mail and text message saying they had received the package on February 22 and forwarded the package to the Nebraska Service Center to process our I-130, and had sent me the official receipt letter through snail mail. I think that is pretty fast from what I have read in other's forum posts. Now the wait begins :( . I'm sure there were no mistakes, I went through every single form about 10 times, and sent all the originals. However, I had a brain fart at the last second and didn't attach a cover letter  . I was first thinking of applying for a K-3, but read that it's now obsolete and all marriage I-130s are automatically put on the IR-1 / CR-1 path. But I think somewhere on the application forms I mentioned K-3. I hope they ignore it and follow the IR-1/CR-1 Path :o

Well, we just got an RFE from the Embassy.

Apparently the divorce decree for my husband's previous marriage is not the "final" one. What on Earth do they mean? We got married using this paper with no issues, it says divorce decree on it. What is it that they are asking for exactly?
Problem is the divorce took place in another country and we cannot travel at this time to go get it!!! :(

This is actually a common thing but usually at the NVC or USCIS stage. Look in the country forums for you region and do a search on divorce decrees or divorce absolute. There may be some guidance there.

I did this for the UK divorce decree because there are requests now and then. I added extra info and highlighted information.

So do the search and see what happens.

Thanks so much!!

Problem is not many people from Greece are doing this so there isn't much information on my country. But I will do the other search and read through :)

Thank you!!!

As you said the divorce was finalized in a different country... May I ask which country? I would also do a search in that region and see if any tips can be picked up.

Sorry for your misfortune. I could feel from your posts how excited you were. You have to call them and ask them what exactly do they want and why what you sent is not enough. But YES it is just a speed bump.

He got divorce in Germany. I found an e-mail for the court (??) on one of the papers and mailed them. We also have the notary's info and of course his ex-wife who might or might not be willing to help.

At least it's not something too obscure at least. There definitely should be something to help on the forums.

Also follow graadai's advice. You have an advantage that it's the Embassy that should be able to contact.

I'm so sorry about that. I wish I could be of help, but all I can offer is support. I'm sure love will overcome any bump on the road.

I got a small speed bump myself. I got my approval (26 days from submitting) and packet 3 the same day (our 5th wedding anniversary :D ) in the mail. The i-130 had been approved in 16 days, but this was the first news I had heard. I had pretty much filled out all the forms in advance for the packet 3, so I went to do the DS-230. While filling that out online I discovered my wife's PP expires in 6 days :o . Oh well, one more thing to do.
