Yes, if you are using assets there is certainly a grey area as to whether you meet the requirements because it depends how much a third party values the asset at. How much is a house or a shop worth? It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. But you won't know that amount until you actually sell it so for the purpose of AOS and using assets it becomes difficult.

Our case is, fortunately, very simple. I know my husband does not earn enough. We don't own property. We have a good friend who is very willing to step in as a joint sponsor (and he has read the instructions and information about it and is fully aware of the implications and responsibilities) who earns enough. Job done.

E&E I have been meaning to ask you if you got a hard copy of the NOA1?

My husband hasn't got his yet and he's in the US. So I was wondering how long it took you to get yours (if you've even got one yet). We got the email last week Thursday.

Awesome B&Z. At least you also have that hard copy and know your mailing address with USCIS is confirmed and no errors on data input. At least that is what I took it as, and I am also planning on using it and hopefully the NOA2 (when it arrives) to get my husband to visit while we buy a condo or something.

Husband's PO box.

Trouble is - when you're from a small country you are used to sending something on Monday and it reaching somewhere the other end of the country on Tuesday. I'm not used to domestic mail taking longer than a day.

If you don't receive it by next Friday, you may want to have your husband call and ask for a copy to be sent out. May not happen with USCIS though giving their level of customer support. But I would've expected you to receive it by now based off how quickly I got mine. Though, it could have been the holiday we just had.

Take a screen shot of text at least, and put with your records I would say, and a print out of the USCIS website confirming that also.

And when you visit, take it with you just to be on the safe side if they ask about possible immigration before it gets to NVC. Though, I am extra paranoid about this stuff, I am on this sense better to have extra documentation and not need it, then need it have zilch and screwed.

Domestic mail shouldn't take that long usually. From Las Vegas to Denver, less than a week. From Phoenix to Denver, it was sent out on the 4th and in my mailbox on the 8th (with a weekend, therefore no mail on Sundays.)

Do not worry about hard copies of NOA1 or NOA2, what matters is your case status in the USCIS website. Those papers are useless.

I have made screenshots of everything - if only for my own scrapbook of my journey to my husband.

Ill be speaking to him later (my birthday today!) and, as usual, my first question will be "did you get the NOA1 letter yet?". I just want something physical to tell me this is all real.

JFH I have not received a hard copy, it said 7-10 business days that is meant for US. Since I live in Bosnia I am not sure if they mail those then out, I hope they do. I received the email on the Feb 11th so maybe if they send it out it will take about 3-4 weeks.

And we are still not online on the USCIS website. :(

Right, now I'm having a mild panic. Blue ink or black ink for signatures. I read here to use blue to show its a genuine signature and not a photocopy or computer-printed one. But now I see someone has got an RFE for a blue signature! We can't win! How did you all sign?

YES I do, it was in the email they sent me it starts with YSC.... Is that a receipt number?

Yes, that is. Potomac receipt number.
