The very old cases at Potomac are ones that have been transferred from Texas because there was a backlog there. It must be disheartening for the August filers to see September and October cases approved before them.

Timeline in brief:

Married: September 27, 2014

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

Yeah, I'll bet. Hopefully they start working a lot quicker than they have been.

Great news!!

I thought DCF completely bypasses the NVC and is all done locally at the consulate?

You know, Marrienne, I don't have an answer for you but the lady told me that it would only take 30 days instead of the usual 4-5 months. Phase 2 with the NVC would take about 3 months she said.

02/23/2016: I-130 Submission DCF Lima, Peru

03/16/2016: NOA2 APPROVAL

06/28/2016: Interview at Embassy: APPROVED!!!

August 2016: Will enter the USA!

So once the Form I-130 has been filed, do you complete OF-169, both parts of OF-230, and I-864?

From review of some forums, it looks like the OF-169 may no longer be required. Is that the case?

Is there anything else, other than gather tax returns that can be completed prior to the NOA-2?

Thanks.

OF-169 and OF-230 aren't used anymore.

The new forms are electronic and you can only access them when you get to that stage (although there are some examples on the internet that you can look at to prepare yourselves). You can do I-864 already. And you need to get the police certificates done in readiness for the next stage. I have had my vaccinations done as well.

Welcome to our group. Quite a few at Potomac now. The rest of us are at Nebraska. I don't think we have anyone at Texas, Vermont or California. It will be interesting to see the processing times.

Good luck!!!

Good morning peeps!!
We've had quite a crazy week over here with things happening with the kids.
No news still from the Embassy. We are cutting it awfully close to the 30 days since filing the I-130s, in the sense that they are saying "under one month for approval". True we talked on the phone with them but no paperwork still and no reply to emails.
I will have my FIL to call their toll free number in the USA to get some answers as the instructions are not very clear on that part.

Click "spoiler" below for a detailed account of our journey to a CR1 visa via DCF in Athens, Greece.

2011 - Met hubby online and became friends
Early 2013 - Confessed our love for each other * Late 2013 - I got pregnant with our daughter
2014 - Our baby was born in Athens, Greece and completed our family. We now have two boys and a girl!! 2013 - 2015 - Looking for jobs in Greece, none were available (due to socioeconomic crisis) 2015 - Decided only way to feed our family was to immigrate and started the process December 2015 - Got married (Greece has a LOT of red tape for foreigners marrying Greeks)
January 2016 - Finished gathering all documents and getting them translated
* * DCF in Athens, Greece * *

28th January 2016 - Finally filed I-130s
29th June - ISSUED!!!!!!1st July - Visa packages and passports delivered to DHL.4th July - Visas in hand! CU in two weeks USA!!
19th July- POE Detroit. All went well!! (excluding our screaming, jet lagged toddler!!)

After Arrival in the US

September 2016 - Hubby is diagnosed with congestive heart failure
October - February 2016 - Battle with drug use, overdosing, bringing home a tiny paycheck

March - July 2017 - I am working 80 hr weeks to make ends meet. Discovered hubby's affair. Still overdoses and is hospitalized. Has quit working all together.
July - October 2017 - Marriage counseling. Revealed hubby has "several" mental conditions. Is started on several mental meds.

October 2017 - Got accepted for a college course. Got better job to help raise my kids.

October 2017 - March 2018 - Situation at home is toxic. He files for divorce.

July 2018 - Divorce is final. I have full custody of our daughter.

ROC (GC expires July 19th 2018)

July 16th - Package for ROC is delivered to the CA service center (divorce waiver).

August 30th - NOA1 received with 18 month extension (fee waiver approved).

March 28th 2019 - Biometrics

August 8th 2019 - Case Approved No RFE No Interview - 10 year GC in production

N400 (Online - Detroit, MI office)
June 6th 2023 - Applied for naturalization under 5 year rule.
June 7th 2023 - Application received/Biometric will be reused.

Just received update. Case has been transferred to Potomac. Does this mean that the update I just received is the NOA-1?

Thanks.

Potomac for me. What the hell is an I-797 form? I think someone asked this recently but I can't remember. Is the e-mail I received an equivalent of an NOA1?

Yes that email you received which tells your case is accepted and gives you a receipt number is equivalent of an NOA1. 797 form is your "offical" NOA1.
