"Live Free or Die" - the official motto of New Hampshire. It is probably the most well-known of all state mottos, partly because it speaks to an aggressive independence inherent in the American dream. I suppose that would be in contrast to "live under the skirt of the Queen".

...."live under the toes of a madman" This is the current US motto.

If you want something you've never had, you have to be willing to do what you've never done.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I thought of a couple more to round out my lengthy list earlier in the thread.

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

And the all time favorite.

"Better to be pissed off than to be pissed on."

;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

It's not the first time, and it probably won't be the last (when Sh!t happens to you).

Along with..

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

-Benjamin Franklin

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt
