My one year extension ends on March 4(this Saturday).

we went to renew my license and seems like they require another extension letter.

my field office is Newark and it does not have any appointments this week.

can I just walk in to the field office and request them for an extension?

has anyone done this before?

will they extend my green card if I just walk in this week.

i am stressed..hopefully someone can give their inputs

VSC Staff and Petition Processing

The VSC currently has approximately 1,000 federal employees including 600 adjudicators.  New adjudicators have mentors and coaches and must do a certain number of cases before they can adjudicate cases on their own. Adjudicators receive form-specific training and will generally work with that form for at least six months before taking on adjudication of a new form.

Cases are processed by adjudicators in receipt order.  All petition denials are reviewed by a supervisor regardless of form type.  If an approved petition is inappropriately routed for adjustment of status instead of consular processing, this may be corrected by contacting the National Customer Service Center.

Hey, you can't just walk in. My advice is go check for appointments either really late or really early. I got mine around 5 or 6 am. 

 

They wont take you if you walk in. When you get an appointment, they'll take your green card and stamp your passport with an I-551 stamp (green card) and its most likely going to be valid for a year that you can use at the DMV or proof of authorization for employment.

 You are fine for now....May 27th..... so just keep checking to get the infopass

Hey, my field office is Newark, I was just trying to make an appointment and the first few times it showed that they have no appointments for the next 14 days, I kept refreshing and after the fourth or fifth time an appointment showed up for Tuesday 3/7 at 10am. Try doing that, my extension letter expires on 3/26 so I'm going to go and try to get a stamp, my job keeps asking me about my status and I'm getting nervous. Good luck!

I have been following this thread for the past month or so and finally decided to join in. I finally received feedback from the VSC on the 28th of Feb, they mailed my congratulations / approval letter out to me.

I checked my mail today and found a very pleasant surprise in the mail, the approval letter dated 02/28/17. It states that I shall receive my card in the mail within 60 days. I am grateful for all of you for keeping the faith and keeping us patient. 

Good luck to all of you and hopefully you hear pretty soon.

In order to qualify for expedited status, the request must meet expedite criteria (on USCIS website). I then called the number and talked to an officer who took note of my request. Within 5 days I received an email saying the request had been accepted meaning they approved to have my case expedited.  Did not mean they had approved my removal of conditions. I called them back 2 days ago since I had not heard about it and I received an email this morning telling me the green card was in production. 

The key was to be able to talk to an officer and mostly meeting the expedite criteria which include: severe financial loss, emergency, humanitarian... 

Once you petition for the expedited request it is in no way guaranteed to get it though and they really mention it over the phone.

Under which criteria did you apply for expedite? Did they ask any documents to submit in support to file that expedite?

i am working in none profit organization. I think I am qualify for that.
