Hi, just wanted to share my experience at Atlanta field office with infopass today. I filed i-751 in March at Vermont office. I am in the middle of switching an employer and will have to go through I-9. Green card is expired and all I have is the notice of action receipt. I called US CIS to check if this would be enough for me to pass I-9 and they recommended scheduling an infopass to get a temporary evidence. I came to the field office and was told that I should expect my case to be processed within 2 years from the date on the NOA. I was also refused a i-551 stamp and was told that the NOA plus expired green card should suffice for i-9. The officer also told me that I will have to come back and get a stamp after my extension expires in June. I truly hope there will be no issue with i-9 and proving the extended status. Very uncomfortable situation :( Since they told me that 2 years is normal processing time they did not file a case either..

So sorry to hear re RFE to be honest this is what we are expecting now after 8 months plus or an interview

Did they ask for anything specific or was it just a standard RFE letter.?

My wife and I are getting screwed by this delay in VSC. She applied to an international program and got into the interview phase. When the registrar processed her docs, they didn't accept her expired GC and disregarded the NOA letter. We have until mid-December to show them a valid GC.

I am extremely disappointed.

1. Get your wife passport Stamped from one of your local USCIS office by making infopass appointment Any employer will accept that.

2. If you have a clear social security card (which do not contain 'Authorized to work only on DHL etc.) and driver license, you can use that too.

Thanks. We'll strive for #1. She tried #2 during the interview, but they were adamant about the GC. I forgot to mention that this is for a university admission, not an employment opportunity.

Two solutions.

I tried #1 because I was having problems. The guy issued me the stamp and then canceled it when he realized my extension wasn't expired. Apparently they're instructed not to issue stamps for people with valid extension letters.

Just a heads up.

Thanks. We'll strive for #1. She tried #2 during the interview, but they were adamant about the GC. I forgot to mention that this is for a university admission, not an employment opportunity.

I would say if they don't issue a stamp (as it happened in my case), try to expedite the GC by contacting your local congressman and having them deal with US CIS on your behalf. Explain the situation and sign the release form. I did that when I had a delay with OPT card and had a pending job offer. I contacted my local office, explained the situation and put it in writing for them, and within a week I received a card in the mail.

I just received a text message that my card is being make, I don't know my approval date, thank you all for always sharing everything with me, I wish everyone else to received their card soon, once again thank you all and see you next year in march again for N400 ??????
