The status of this service request is:

Your case is currently assigned to an Officer and being adjudicated. You should receive a notice of action* within 45 days.

*A notice of action may be in a form of Approval Notice, Denial Notice, Transfer Notice, Request for Evidence, or Notice of Intent to Deny.

Hope you hear something soon as this waiting is agony.

I have over time, unfortunately seen a pattern on Visajourney where USCIS really seem to put people of certain countries through it.

Case in point, I myself was Born in the UK but have a Muslim name.Although i,m not in the slightest bit religious but all the officer is going to see is my name it seems.

Also having read what many of us filed evidence wise we filed more than enough.!

Sorry for the essay just feeling a little singled out here.

This is a general question - I understand that the Vermont processing center takes 12+ months. I also understand that my husband will need to go to a uscis office and have his passport stamped to extend his stay again after his 1 year extension is up.
Vermont is currently processing applications from OCTOBER and its not november

Could somebody please direct me towards a more concrete explanation of this wheather a thread or a guide or whatnot?

How soon should we go in to talk to USCIS? We received his extension letter on January 18th 2016 - I understand that the appointments can get backed up at uscis and that you must make an appointment. Is now too soon? do i need to wait until December?

anybody have experience with this and can direct me to the appropriate forum and guide. I know i read this somewhere on here but I can't for the life of me remember where I read it.

Admittedly, I have not had a chance to scan all 50 pages of this thread...but the last few posts I've read make me feel we are in the same boat. Just realized hubby's "1 year extension" from the NOA1 is coming up in May! Seems so close and still no updates! :-(

However, I wanted to see if anyone has checked their case status on the USCIS site and had the case number not recognized??

I had this happen and it caused a major anxiety attack as when I was checking we were being hassled about the NOA extension letter's validity at Mumbai Airport by clueless check-in counter people. I did manage to speak with someone at VSC while waiting for the airline to approve hubby's travel, and they assured me if I received the letter, that all was well. And that they are just super behind (story of USCIS's life) and that the website not recognizing the case # means it just hasn't been entered into the computer yet. I feel bad for our file sitting quietly on a shelf somewhere. :-(

We eventually did get on the plane, but not until after I had to go all Crazy American and start making a scene after waiting over an hour and a half and almost missing our flight. :-)

Traveling with that letter is a hassle! Hoping this process finishes someday soon!

Do not lose hope. Let's hope that your case is adjudicated by March (12 month wait) long before the May deadline. If you are close to the May 2017 expiration of the NOA1, you can make an infopass appointment and get a I-551 stamp in your passport. Also, you should be able to file N-400 (citizenship) around that time. This will force USCIS to adjudicate your I-751 before they can move on to the N-400 processing.

For checking the status of your application online you should use the second application case # from the biometric letter (bottom right). Although the online status does not change until they actually touch your file.

I'm worried because I'm a teacher and the school I'm working for keeps on asking me if I could really teach for the spring semester since my one year extension expires early March.

I also sent my documents to the Vermont processing center and wonder what I should do in case I don't hear anything until end of December or January?

From what I read from other members on here, you can make an infopass appointment and get an I-551 stamp on your passport to extend your status for additional year (I believe its one year) when your one-year extension letter is about to expire. There shouldn't be any problem. Hope this helps!
