My GC expired 06/05/2016, I had received 1 yr extension on 03/14/2016 so based on the receipt date even the 1yr extension is expired. Luckily, my license was renewed until 06/05/2017 based on 1 yr from my GC expiry. When should I get the passport stamped? I was hoping to go sometime in May. Thank you.

Hello, I made the appointment with the same link (https://my.uscis.gov/en/appointment/). It was difficult to get an appointment with them because they are always full. But on 4th I checked as soon as I woke up and luckily saw 3 or 4 appointments available for the same day (lesson: Check in the mornings). I saw this around 8 AM in the morning, so I booked the appointment for 10:15 AM slot. The confirmation was immediate. If you have a printer print the confirmation (I didn't). And the address you have provided is correct and that is where I got my stamp. It wasn't difficult to find.

If you GC expired on June 5th, then you can make your appointment between - May 6th 2017 - June 4th 2017. I hope I did the maths right. Basically you need to make the appointment 30 days within the expiry date of you GC (+ 1 year).

Since my 1 yr extension letter had receipt date 03/14/2016, which means it is expired now, I was able to see available appointment slots today so I booked the appoint for April 20th. Coincidentally, I have to pass by that location on 20th so I thought I can get the passport stamped on that day. I have printed the confirmation letter so I hope I will be able to get the passport stamped and not told by them to come back after a month or so. :)This process sucks.

No it is based on the expired day on your green card. I would recommend that you dont come and get the stamp too early. I did that, and it makes me stuck, because they will start at the day it is stamped.

So will they be able to stamp if I go on April 20th? Were you told to go 30 days prior to your GC expiry? I don't mind if the status starts based on the stamp date since I will get the 10yr soon and I have also applied for the citizenship. I was just concerned about my license renewal on June 5th because I need to be picking few family members from the airport. Thank you.

Yeah they will, but here is my situation: they just stamped 6 months instead of a year, so my driver license is stuck now. I need to renew and it wilk be last for 4 months, i have been waited for decision over a year. Do u have approval yet? So I have to go and renew my license again soon. This is why I said like that

I am not sure if they will stamp if you go before the 30 day period. Like I mentioned in my post your 30 period is from May 6th 2017 to June 4th 2017. If you can see some of the earlier posts in this thread, some one mentioned that the office denied to stamp the passport because she was too early. But it wouldn't hurt to try, I suppose.

That is painful so time wasting. I hope these people understood our torture. No, I haven't received the approval yet. I have been checking mail every day.

That makes sense. It is just so confusing. Let me do some research and see if I should change the appointment date.

I finally received my confirmation letter yesterday (dated 3/31)!

I had gotten my passport stamped a couple of weeks ago at the NYC field office to show my workplace as my 1-year extension letter expired.

Fingers crossed that my card will come soon. Good luck all!
