I wonder if it is then something about missing signatures on the intent to marry letters.

Was separated from my ex wife for years but the divorce wasn't final until a month prior to application. That's the only thing I can think of. Won't be hard to prove since she was aware of my fiance for the last 2 years. Nothing hidden during that time.

Had a lawyer write it all up and sent a ton of evidence. Hope it's simple too!

Sorry to hear about the RFE and now the approval will take a bit longer. What surprises me is you hired a lawyer and got an RFE??? Never heard of such escenario. All I can say is I wouldn't be a happy camper..

Unfortunately this actually seems to be pretty common. VisaJourney comments are what decided us against using a lawyer.

Anyone know where the RRE's are mailed from? If it's California it won't take long since I'm in Hawaii but if it's some central office in DC it might take a while. Also, can you call them and inquire or will they only refer you to the mailing?

Sorry about the RFE! Just curious, did you get a text from the app notifying you or was it an email?

Now to wait (rather impatiently!) for my NOA2.

Things seemed to have slowed down over the last week or so in terms of approvals unfortunately

With Easter (not a paid holiday) just passed, there were a lot of kids on Spring Break (it's not PC to call it Easter Vacation anymore, what, with invoking the Lord and the Reason for the Season), so it's a good time for the parents to take a vacation, too. So, this could be a cause for a slow-down. It should pick back up now.

Like PandaSong said, it seems more RFEs come from people using immigration attorneys than those who do it themselves and crowdsource what they need to do from other DIYers here. I suspect it is because the immigration attorneys depend more on what the laws and regulations say than on "feet on the ground" experiences of what actually occurs. And the DIYers working from input here are relying on actual experiences of those who have gone through the process themselves.

Both

Thank you! I saw a lot of RFEs go out today for cases around mine. And I'm not sure if anyone answered your question yet but I think the letter comes from California...maybe ask in the January filers forum because I know there's been a lot of RFEs dealt with in there.

So this is probably a dumb question but I've been searching on forums with no luck. Does the arrival of the NOA2 take longer depending on the country of the fiance? Or will the country be more of a factor afterwards? We sent the application on February 1st - and I'm not sure if I am getting my hopes up that we'll get the second notice any time soon. My fiance is from Sub-Saharan Africa so we're expecting delays as far as the background check is concerned. I guess I was under the impression that between the NOA1 and NOA2 it was processing the application, making sure the documents were completed....not the actual decision-making. Am I totally off-base?
