Thank you Georgia, My question is really short, do I need to just wait till my case says "READY" on CEAC tracking page or do I need to do something in order to move ahead?

Right now the case status says "In NVC"

Thanks

We don't know how it works in India, maybe the embassy over there want you to wait until you get packet 3? Like Georgia already told you, you need to ask these questions in the subforum for the country you're filing for the K-1 in. Everything after NVC is very country specific.

Just chiming in, because this was our thread...

She arrived on May 29, and I picked her up from the airport in a suit with a dozen red roses. POE went smoothly, but the day didn't! It was over 100 degrees outside, and when I was leaving to go get her, I noticed that my tire was flat. I popped some fix a flat in and had to air it up again on the way to the airport. By the time we got out of the airport, it was completely flat. So, in my Sunday best, I changed that tire in 100+ degree heat. We went home...

We got married in Las Vegas on July 16. Things have been going well, and we are waiting for her employment documents. It is a bit of a boredom struggle with her not able to work, but we keep open communication and make compromises. When I get home we are going 100 miles an hour until bedtime - if I am tired, we still go and do, and I don't regret it a bit. We both acknowledge that it will be nice when we are both exhausted from work! We joke "We can't wait for her to be sick and tired of working."

For those of you still waiting, just remember that before you know it, the time you are together again will be longer than the time you were waiting in this Visa process. And then you will be waiting again for a work permit!

Regarding the work permit, what do I have to apply for in order to get one. What's the process and can it only begin after you get married? Thank you! :)

Glad everything is going well :) I hope she gets her EAD soon so she can start working

After marriage you have to adjust your status when doing that EAD (and AP) is free, so you just send that in with your AOS.

Quick question folks -

My fiance is 26 years old and still studying along with her job, Under form I 134, we have mentioned her income to be $50k, however, her actual is around $34k for which we have the tax returns.

Can we club her income proof and her mother's income proof since she lives with her mother and on top of the that she is a student.

Thanks,

Yanisa entered the USA on Oct 29 at Honolulu. Entry was quick and easy

The i94 search comes up empty. I wonder how long it takes for it to show up?

Is there another forum for working on the AOS after we get married?

Thanks,

David

Figured out the problem with the i94 after talking to the CBP duty officer at HNL.

The birthdate on the visa in Yanisa's passport was wrong. The duty officer checked the k-1 packet and it was correct there, so somebody made a mistake when they issued the visa. Anyway the duty officer corrected the i94 for us. I guess we'll find out if that's going to be a problem moving forward or not. Hopefully it's a minor issue if it's an issue at all.

Neither one of us noticed it was wrong.
