Called NVC and finally recv'd our case number! :dancing:

Now the question I have is: do we have to wait until the status says "ready" before we can complete the application and pay the fee? If so, how long does it typically take for the status to update?

Do we fill the application first and then pay...or vice versa?

Lastly...I notice each month that there is a NVC filers thread for CR-1; why not for K-1?

Hi everyone,

After over a month, thank goodness our case has finally been recieved by the NVC and has recently been sent to my consulate. I have the case number and when I check it, it says it's in 'transit'. How will I know when my embassy recieves it? Will the status change?

I'd like to know that too. Our case was sent from NVC yesterday and today it says "ready", it only said "in transit" for one day. Obviously "ready" doesn't mean that the embassy received the actual package, it's not possible that it happens this fast. :o

When it goes to ready the embassy has it. But it is different from embassy to embassy how fast they are to give out package 3

Definitely good luck to both of us! I'm not sure what courier is used in Russia (I'm the USC) but I've just been checking the CEAC website to see if we've been approved every day.

Hi Lowens8! Any update with your status? Mine's date was updated yesterday but still in AP status. Im hoping i will get it this coming week.

Hi!

Do I have to apply for a social security number before I get married or can I do it after?

Looking at VisaJourney, it looks like you CAN do both but it's easier to do it before and then just get a name change.

Hi everyone,

I just need an advice :( We got our NOA2 last 8th of June. It has been a month and 3 weeks and I'm pretty sure our case has been forwarded to NVC. The problem is my fiancee is here with me in Philippines right now and we don't know if our case has been forwarded to the Embassy here.

What worries me more is he got a notification e-mail from the embassy saying that the beneficiary can schedule the interview but it was addressed to a different person, not me. I think the embassy mistakenly put my fiance's e-mail address to other person's case.

He said the only way to find out what's happening and get our case number is to call them when he gets back. But he is not going back to USA till the 30th of July. It is hard for me to wait anymore. I want to clarify it with the embassy as soon as possible. Right now, I want to know if there is anyway to get our case number online or is it possible to call NVC outside USA?

You can definitely call the NVC outside of USA to find out all details necessary. Just give them a call and hopefully everything will be sorted for you.
