IN Sweden you need the case number to get a medical. So if you call and get the number earlier you can also book a medical earlier, which might speed things up.

Good evening, what is the purpose of calling visa center to obtain your number? To save time and be able to give it to your embassy before they receive it?

Thanks,

Hi, I'm processing my visa with the help of a lawyer and after we recieved our noa2, his only instruction was to wait for my country's embassy to send me a letter (I'm the beneficiary) and inside the letter, the NVC number will be stated and I can just go ahead and tell him the number so that they can start to fill out a form for us. Calling the NVC for the number is an option and if you skip this step, it would also be fine. However, the benefit is that the petitioner can start sending the documents needed (one form needs the NVC number as I was told) so being a step ahead makes the whole processes faster. Also, you can track your package and you don't have to wonder where it is. :)

I've never done this before so I'm only going off of what I was told and think.

In the UK it is also the case that once you have your NVC number you can book your medical appointment and get that done so you can indeed speed up the process. You will need your police and vaccination records for this though.

Wow, how I wish Hong Kong was the same. Over here, you need to wait for the packet in order to move forward. On the bright side, everything here is processed quickly.

Hi guys, feel a bit stupid asking this since it seems so basic! But I have my NVC case number and my case is showing as ready, but I can't find the links to book my medical, interview and courier. This is for London embassy by the way. Any one who can help?

Thanks!

Good evening, what is the purpose of calling visa center to obtain your number? To save time and be able to give it to your embassy before they receive it?

Thanks,

Like posted by others, some posts let you schedule the medical with just the case number, and in many instances before they actually receive the case from NVC. We are going through Guayaquil, and they also allow to schedule the medical once you obtain the case number. In our case in particular since we are also doing K2, it helps to gain some time because we must wait a minimum of 10 days from medical to be able to schedule the interview since one must wait for the K2's medical results. So that's a good reason to get the case # from NVC before getting contacted by the post.

Not sure how exactly London does things, but most embassies post instructions on how to schedule the medical and which doctors, their addresses, phone #, etc., right on their websites, you might have to take a look. Our consulate even posts a link to Packet 3 so you can start working on it before even scheduling the interview. Maybe someone else going through London give you a better answer but I'll take a look on the website, or email them, good luck. Edited by MandyAlex

Once you have your case number you can call Knightsbridge doctors to schedule an appointment. You do need your UK police records for that and if you have vaccination records then you need to bring that too.

To schedule your interview, please click on the link below:

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-gb/iv

Just make sure you have filled in the DS-160 and readiness form before scheduling your interview. Your medical will also need to be done before your interview because the embassy needs to receive your results first from Knightsbridge. I hope it makes sense :)

My visa was issued! Now I just have to wait for them to courier it off.. to whatever city they decide on (because yay for post office strikes and them having to do things weird and insanely expensive for us Canadians).. and then I'm off to the US! Two and a half more months until I can marry him! So excited.

Just wondering if anyone knows how long the medical exam is good for(through Canada)? I've heard it expires after 6 months?

Wondering if I can get the medical done about a month before the interview without any issues?

Your medical exam should be good for the six months! So you can do yours before the interview. If it happens to expire, that isn't really a big deal either. It just means you'll have to go have another one done for your AOS filing (I think? At least that's what I got from reading up on things).
