We only got 4 questions and they were super easy unfortunately we did not get approved:(

In Denmark ALL government papers are online we don't get the send by mail but via an online mailbox so I printer all the papers out with stamps and signatures of the full custody and I have it translated. But the embassy will not accept them unless it is the real signature and not the print out. Called the Danish government and they only have the scanned documents so I'm in some kind of limbo now between those two ...

And the Danish government isn't at any help at all!!

So we are very sad

Sorry to hear your predicament Georgia16.

Ask the U.S Consulate in Denmark on how to proceed. They should be able to give you guidance.

Wish yo well! Good luck on your journey!!!

Sorry to hear this Georgia. Where there is a will there is a way. Dont give up just try to get what they need. You are able to them what they need right?

My fiance is working on getting the required government document that they need. He hopes to get it by tomorrow morning (his time) and then email embassy for further instructions. Hopefully we will be approved thereafter. I really wish that they would make some of these things clear to applicants (maybe post on their websites) before hand so we can have the correct documentation or rather how they want it at the interview. If we had know my fiancé needed a letter to accompany the birth record we would have obtained it beforehand but we did not know.

Anyways these are just speed bumps along the way. I'm sure we all will have good news soon.

I do not think there is anything to worry about. Just follow the instructions and all will be well.

Good luck on your Journey!

On it.......Thank you so much :-)

So sorry to hear that. You were good help for everyone of us. But I didn't understand.. They didn't approve coz you didn't give the original documents?

Fiance went to interview today.

Only asked 5 questions:

Who are you intending to marry?

When did you first meet?

When did you last see her?

What is her position at work?

What company does she work for?

Is she American?

Are you of the same age?

After these question the IO then said he that is all the questions he had for him and then asked for all the other financial documents and his birth certificate. My fiancé gave him all the documents and also a birth record because in the 70's his country were only issuing birth records. So the officer told him to go to some government office (Registrar office) in town were they would give him a letter that supports the birth record. Apparently this government office knows the kind of letter that the US Embassy needs. After he gets the letter then he should email the embassy and let them know he has the letter and then they will email him back (not sure if it will be with another appointment date or instructions as to how to drop off the letter at the embassy). So we hope that is when they will collect his passport and the letter and proceed with the visa issuance.

So they gave him back his passport back and a piece of paper saying they cannot issue the visa at this time. They checked the box were they said he needs to provide the documents requested in order to proceed. So as we speak, he is at the government offices trying to get the letter and hopefully we can email the embassy today to let them know we have the letter.

So what do you guys think? Do you think we should worry

I do not think this is gonna be a problem. They'll probably approve as soon as you guys give the right document. :)

May I ask what was the age difference between you guys?

They Kept our passports so we will get approved when I provide what they want.

They issue is that there are no originals to give them since the Danish government scan it in and then though out all documents so can't get what they want me to give them.

The stuff I gave them is how the Danish government does it so it is a limbo between those two right now.

So sorry to hear, Georgia16. I guess the solution is that the paper version of the documents must be sent, sealed by the government organization. You will make it!

They don't have it! That's what I'm trying to say... After they scan the documents into the computer after they get it then they delete the documents like in but them in the trash can, so there aren't any documents I can send them.

I'm trying to get the danish government to understand I need some kind of proof that the papers I have given is just the way they do it here but they just aren't helpfull right now. Have talked to them 3 times already today, now I have to wait for some lady to call me it can take days to weeks.

So sorry to hear about your dilemma Georgia16. Sounds like you're in a catch-22 situation. Have you tried contacting other people (from Denmark) that have been in the same predicament with the US Embassy and see how they were able to get it solved? I'm sure there are other couples in the same situation as yours that had been there before and were able to provide what's needed. Not sure if there is a Denmark subforum here, but search online and I'm sure you get the right way out. Good luck, you'll get it soon.

There are no Danes with K-2 unfortunately and even though Denmark, Sweden and Norway all are at the same embassy only Denmark are the ones doing it like that. The guy even said Yes, we have a lot of issues with the danish government because they do stuff differently but you just got to get those papers.

Thank you. There is a easy way to fix it the government could just give me a letter stating that this is how we do it here and that the papers are as good as the originals but believe me they are SO hard to deal with here and do not go one extra inch for anyone. I'll update when I have some news.
