So, this is going to be weird. It's 2AM, I'm a bit tipsy, I literally just finished my degree today, I'm turning 30 tomorrow, and we have been waiting 77 days for this when I was originally expecting to wait 40-something days. But the NOA2 just come through!! I was so disappointed earlier tonight when I checked the app and it still just said "Case was Received," because I've been having dreams that this would come just in time for my birthday. Can I just say, right now, thank god for spell-check!? And also, woah, this is such a crazy feeling! I'm writing this not because I want a bunch of congratulations! responses. Honestly that was annoying when I was still trying to patiently wait. And I thought I wouldn't post when I did finally get it, but I am because I want to say hang in there to everyone still waiting, and to those March filer lurkers. Who knows when, but it's coming. And one day, not far off in the big scheme of things, you and your loved one will be looking back at this time, knowing that it strengthened your connection, and laugh. Cheers everyone! Also, what the hell do I do next? I'll do my research, but it seems like I am supposed to call the NVC to get numbers or something.. Happy weekend everyone, and best wishes next week!

Congrats on the degree, NOA2 and your birthday! :D

Next, you gather documents for the interview and then around 3 weeks you call NVC and get your case number so you can move on in the process.

We have a traditional thai ceremony (non-legal) planned for July when I'm in Thailand in Yanisa's home town. It's for her family. Both of us will be in costume. :)

I asked Yanisa if she wanted to buy a dress to change into after, and she went to the mall in the nearby city and got one for 1000 THB. (Look that up on xe.com for a good laugh.)

I'm thinking (hoping?) we'll get married with just a few people in a very small ceremony here on Maui once she finally gets here. we were hoping for the end of October, but now, not sure when. My friend lives about 1 mile from me and has this great Banyon tree on his property. Would be nice to get married under the Banyon tree.

-David

Be very very careful in the ceremony you have planned. Believe me when I say I have seen so many people on here denied the k1 because they chose to do a ceremony in their fiancés home country. They will consider this a type of wedding ceremony, most likely. Especially having pictures of you in costume. Pleaseeee be aware of this. I don't want you ending up disappointed when they tell you that you are married and need to go the CR1 route after all the time and money you put into the K1

Hi everyone, I was wondering about something. What are your wedding plans omce you got the visa? We are having a hard time deciding how to deal with it. Ideally we would like a wedding with a ceremony and wedding reception, but it's difficult to do that with this visa and especially since it would be best to apply for AOS as soon as possible after entering the US. We are thinking about doing a civil wedding right after I would arrive and then later a bigger party in November. Being a perfectionist and all, this is a though one because I am scared that when my family comes over for the wedding in November, it won't feel the same because officially we would already be married. What are your thoughts on this and what are your plans?

My fiance and I have decided to have a civil wedding because we all know it is hard to plan to everything in 3 months. However, we will have the actual wedding with few friends and family on summer next year. We are still deciding if we will have a garden or beach wedding.. We will definitely checkout the places once I get there ande will announce it on December so my family and friends back home can plan their visit in the US too :)

I am so happy to see different plans.. It is so exciting and slowly, we are all getting there.

I wish everyone the best!

I am currently waiting for my case to be transferred to the embassy of Singapore and trying to gather all the documents that I will be needing!

God bless us all!!

Hi everyone!

I finally found out how to use this forum! I have sent out our I-129F back in february and got a NOA1. (Recieved date 24 Feb 2016 - Notice date 26 Feb 2016) I am not sure which date to follow but anyway I am still waiting for our NOA2. It's been a little over 2 months and I am hoping and praying our visa will come out in a timely manner. Our wedding date is 18 Nov 2016 and we have already booked everything.

We're going to go ahead and have a real wedding. A couple things: first, I quickly learned that I hate wedding planning and do noooot want a big one! Second, I also know that if I got married at the courthouse and then had a wedding later the wedding wouldn't feel real. (I know this works for a lot of people - it would just bum me out personally) Luckily though, we found these people in my home state that specialize in small weddings and pretty much do all the wedding planning for you AND can take bookings with only a few months notice (so long as you don't have your heart set on a Saturday wedding) AND it's a beautiful place. So we're going that route and it's ridiculously perfect for what we want and our situation with the visa. We want to give people who have to travel several months notice though so the way we're dealing with that is trying to get this visa process over and done with as soon as possible, set the wedding date as soon as he has the visa in hand, and then wait a few months before he actually moves here. We're planning on him moving here around September and getting married in October if the rest of the process goes smoothly!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who found out that wedding planning is horrible! We thought about waiting for a couple of months too! But things where I'm living have been going downhill, so we're just throwing our hands up and and saying, "Whoever can come can come." and we'll go back to Canada later on to have a BBQ celebration with everyone. (I'm totally hoping to surprise them with baby news at that time too).

You should be close to getting a response, keep hope :)

Many months left till November, just compare your fellow K1-ers who are also from Hong Kong (from what I recall it's usually really fast for you guys.) to see how long it might all take until you have your visa in hand.

When we sent our application were expecting to hear from USCIC around April, based on estimation of VJ or even USICS itself and we start to plan for our wedding and arrange stuff in july. giving ourself about 3 months which is enough, but seemingly nothing to hear at our 75 days and it's kinda they dropped day of 29th FEB from the list lol  we are still being positive and optimistic to hear from them within next week. all the best for these who are waiting with us finger crossed once again ;) have a nice weekend guys ;)

Thanks for the info, I will change my timeline accordingly. I am less worried now that I found this website. It's so terrifying to be kept in the dark. I'm pretty sure everyone on here has panicked at one point. I wish you all the best! ;)

Paying attention to the estimates on VJ is a double edged sword.

The good thing about it is that you have an idea what to expect and how long it might take. While at the same time it is just an estimate and you might start to drive yourself nuts when your case is taking longer than the average for cases similar to yours.
