I can understand USCIS requesting a joint sponsor and/or list of assets when income is borderline, but my husband earns 3x the amount required to satisfy income requirements. Why did we receive an RFE dated 01.27.2016 saying that his income is not enough?

In our initial application, we sent official tax transcripts for 2013/2014 as well as 6 recent pay stubs showing his year-to-date income for 2015. The RFE is also requesting W-2s or 1099-Rs for the most recent tax year. Do we re-send the same stuff again (assuming they have misplaced it)? 2014 is the most recent tax year for our 2015 USCIS application; we aren't able to file 2015 taxes yet. When I called the 1-800 number to clarify, the lady directed me to a website where I could ask for pro bono assistance. She would not listen to anything I had to say...useless!!

Can anyone shed light on this? It makes no sense.

Hmm, did you properly complete the I-864 in which you have to state his "current household income"?

Do you know if he's sponsored anyone in the past?

Yes, we correctly completed the form with current household income of $68,000. He has never sponsored another person and has no children - it's just the 2 of us. That's why I'm confused.

That is quite strange....maybe they made a mistake. I remember reading a post on VJ before where someone received an RFE about an error on their I-864 even though they had properly filled it out. (I found the post but the OP didn't come back to post about the solution)

Perhaps they're not satisfied with the financial documents evidencing the annual income. Maybe you can include W2s and a letter from employer as well as updated pay stubs. You could take a shot at this by resubmitting the I864 and enclosing more financial evidence.

Or you could find a joint sponsor ...
