I always refuse it. Their is no scientific reason to get the steroid shot when you're sick. It's all a money, and an all in your head kind of deal. The doctor tells you it will help so you believe it.

Then you have the whole USA that is over drugged and can't fight off the slightest thing going in left right and centre!

Yes they will send the clain to your insurance and then the insurance will adjust it. Then the Doctors send you the bill.

Did they give you anything else?

Okay next time I'll say no shot.

Prescription for some anitbiotics (that i think ive had before) and i have to go back tomorrow for follow up? They're worried it will abcess. They did a rapid strep test which is like $20?

Good glad they gave you something. Feel better soon.

Probably, that's the new go to for strep these days.

Did they maybe offer a shot because they were worried about the inflammation and your airway? Just a wild guess.

Geez, that sounds terrible. If it abscesses, do you have to be admitted?

A Z-pack covers a lot of bacteria...

Tark takes a TJ-pack.

Tijuanathromycin....

Yes it does and because it's man made not many things resist it yet. I can't take it very bad reaction when they gave it to me the first time.

No clindamycin.

I did some reading and a steroid for tonsillitis actually is generally recommended providing there is no actual abcess. http://getbetterhealth.com/should-steroids-be-used-to-treat-sore-throats/2010.03.12 I think the PA wanted to give me some major pain relief (told me not to take ibuprofen for for the rest of the day since the shot was essentially a big ibuprofen dose.) Afterall i can only open my mouth about an inch.

If they suspect inflammation in her airway they would of done a inhaled steroid and breathing treatment. The shot is just bs.

Most likely. I was told if it swells anymore to go to ER.

In Canada with an abcess i got IV antibiotics at the ER. I dunno how they do it here. Maybe minor surgery? Dunno.

I've been battling tonsillitis for a long time. Like since 9-11, 2 months after.

I've learned to live with it. The second it acts up, I start with the salt water....

Take an airborne tablet too.

I've never heard of a steroid shot given for it though, in an adult.

With the toddlers, they tend to get steroid happy.

The long term effects are not yet known.

I only know about the steroid pills and I think they are different? I took them once for a whole body case of poison ivy. They were great. I remember my dad taking them too to bring down some of the brain swelling.
