I stop at a BP just now. Now in NY, you always pay first. A credit card turns the pump on.

I put the pump nozzle in the car, and the thing wouldn't take my card. So I started pumping, and it pumped, for free! I couldn't pay for the gas if I tried. The meters didn't work. No idea how much gas I got.

I'm sure we see things vastly differently, I see Minnesota, which likely has a smaller percentage of illegals. Although the number of immigrants has really changed the demographic here from when I was young.

But the cost would have to be huge to remove them all. Last year 235,000 were removed nation wide. Current spending just keeps the number of illegals about static at 10 to 12 million. Doubling expenditures would take 42 years remove 10 million. But as we remove a higher percentage, the economic incentive to sneak in will go up to. As long as illegals can find employment, I don't see more money on removing them as really working, unless we're spending at levels like we do for our military. And that would dwarf any aid they might suck up. NYC might be a city that could effectively cut the numbers at a lower cost though. Based on the higher density of illegals though. Although that might just shift the population around. But maybe we're getting too serious for this thread though.

Man 1996 was a good year. I caught the biggest striped bass I ever caught/ seen in my life.

7-2-96. There I was, braving the rough seas off ny's breezy point jetty. Using a 10 lb class outfit. My shimano 400s. A small grub as bait. Second or third cast and wham! 45 minute fight. 62 lb striped bass...

Question about bringing a parent. My wife and I are discussing bringing her mother here for a couple years. The one thing that worries me is health care. She's over 65, diabetic and on insulin. Does a past retirement age immigrant get medicare or Obamacare? Or is this all going to have to come out of pocket?
