"My name was updated" case status

My wife and I filed her I-485 in June (along with the AP and EAD forms). Her biometrics appointment was in July, and her EAD and AP were approved in late August. And then...nothing. The status for her I-485 sat on 'we accepted the fingerprint fee' for seven months. A few weeks ago she submitted an SR because the case is outside the processing time for the St Paul field office (I have no idea if it's even AT the St Paul field office, but it's where she had her biometrics done). Then, last week, the case status changed to 'my name was updated'. I didn't think much of it - actually I was kind of excited because I figured it meant the case was being worked on - but it's been three days now and no word. There also, weirdly, is this under 'Next Steps': "We will review your request for a data change. If needed, we will make the change."

We definitely haven't requested a data change! Is this just related to the fact that we opened an SR? Anyway, does anyone have any advice? Encouragement? We're supposed to hear back from USCIS on the SR by the end of this week.
