"SINGLE NAME"

First Name: Anna

Middle Name: Martinez

Last Name: Dizon

"MARRIED NAME" reported at the Philippine Embassy

First Name: Anna

Middle Name: Dizon (Middle name is my "Maiden/Last Name" according to Philippines Rules")

Last Name: McWane

"GREENCARD NAME" - Different Middle Name - CO said I need to use my middle name

First Name: Anna

Middle Name: Martinez (this is my Mothers' Maiden name)

Last Name: McWane

I'm a Filipina married to USC as a requirement after marriage, we need to Report our marriage to the Philippine Embassy. Now that my Greencard was issued I have different "MIDDLE NAME". Would that be a problem in the future? Like traveling in the Philippines or maybe needing some legal papers and there's some conflicts.

Cheers,

Dahlia

First off, the CO was WRONG. You could have chosen your maiden name as your middle name; my wife did without any issues.

Second, I would call USCIS and get a new green card issued with your proper middle name.

CO told me "A judge and a court only can name change but I read here in VJ to in order to have my name change in my green card, I have to pay $450. So I am really confuse.

Ya got a bad CO, my wife has her traditional name on her green card. It is not a major issue, most times it will cause no issues, just remember when traveling internationally your airline ticket name must match the name on your passport (not your green card).

Everything you do with the Philippines make sure to follow traditional married name format.

You can fix the name issue when you complete citizenship, you are allowed to change your name then (no charge) ;)

Sure i did had a bad CO, she talked as if she new what she was talking about. I already read same concern before my interview but I wasn't able to justify it.

That's what i thought just wait for my Citizenship :)

I called USCIS and of course they just read what was in the USCIS website which I already read about. Insisted to file I-90 then I said I oblige to pay for the FEE which I would not do. Anyway we don't deserve going through this BS when the CO are not fully knowledgeable about their duty and their mistakes.

Thanks Hanks!

Cheers!

I live in OH and I am also marrying a pinay. OH has told me that she cannot change her middle name by getting married just last name only, but after being a resident of the state of OH for a year we can file a petition in court to change it. Does anyone have any experience with this in OH?

Also, will this cause any issues with her being a Filipino or her passport, because i am sure when report the marriage, the Philippine govt. will put her maiden name as her middle name?

Sorry if i highjacked your thread.

Pinbak- It's okay, we are all here to help each other. I wonder about that too here in Seattle. How many % Filipina wife get to use the their "Last (Maiden) Name" as their Middle Name when they get married.

I hope our fellow VJ'ers will share their experiences.

Cheers!

Don't count on it. Idiots abound in this process at USCIS and... especially at SSA ;)

I am all confused now. I spoke with Franklin County Courthouse in Ohio, that told me this. My brother not believing me called them and they said that she will go to the SSA and they will make her middle name her maiden name, not sure what that means. I thought the marriage changed the name not the SSA.

However, good news, Janice has said that she is not worried about any name changes and to stop worrying about things we cannot change..she calls me makulet all the time, she says it's cute.

But, anyone on VJ from Ohio and were married in Ohio could share their marriage process to a Filipino woman, it sure would ease my mind and I'd appreciate it more than you know!!

Thank You and God Bless! =)

makulit
persistent to the point of annoyance

makulit
used to describe someone who nags in a childish way

( The Tagalog word makulit is often used in a light-hearted context to describe someone who is annoying in being repetitive, stubborn, or persistent in their asking questions or asking for a favor. )
