Hi guys pls I need help..so I am syrian and the embassy is closed here due to war can i pick the country where my interview will take place or what? My case is now at NVC and i want to do interview in beirut embassy

My NOA2 was approved on 1/14/2016. I called yesterday (1/29/16) and got a case number and invoice number. The case number was actually issued on 1/28/16. Also, just as an FYI, if you call the NVC number, choose option 7. Then wait for an operator. I actually got through in like 10 seconds. I was amazed. As a side note, I have not yet received the notice via mail. However, I do expect that early next week.

Also, in response to what to do when the I129 is at NVC...you do nothing. I asked if I or the beneficiary had any responsibilities at that point. The officer said no. Just wait for the paperwork and follow the instructions. The paperwork will be sent off to the overseas consulate.

Hi All - my I129F was approved by CSC on 1/5/16 and I was under the impression that the next correspondence I would get would be when NVC sends my case to the embassy (Jamaica). It is now 1/30 and I still haven't heard anything and was planning on waiting until the end of next week before I called - allowing the full 30 days they say to wait. But now that I found this site and I've been reading the posted timelines, I'm wondering (and worried) if I was supposed to get a "received" notice fromNVC because I see that people have indicated both "NVC received " and "NVC left" dates on their timelines. I'm worried that NVC hasn't received my file yet and it's been 25 days. I will call NVC Monday morning but wanted to know if anyone could shed any insight on this and hopefully put me at ease - otherwise I'll be panicking until Monday! Thanks!!!

Also, can you take the medical before the packet 3 and even before NVC provides a case number?

Depends where you're from. Consulates have different guidelines. But I think its safe to do the medical after you get your NVC case number.

I have an notice date of January/21/2016 on my the letter from the USCIS stating my case will now be sent to the NVC and I just wanted to confirm, is it likely I will have a NVC case number assigned later this week since K1 Petition seem to move more quickly.

It's likely. People have been getting it within 10 business days or so. I got mine on a Weds evening. Pretty much all the NVC does it receive you file, assign a number, and send it away to the embassy. All within a few days after receiving it.

How many business days did your's take to receive the NVC Number after NOA2 Approval? Also, upon receiving the NVC case number, how long until it gets to the Embassy? because i am looking at your timeline and dayum did it go fast lol!

haha. Went quite fast. Was technically 9 business days for them to receive it, those holidays got in my way. I called them in the evening; that way they would have had the whole day to receive it/assign us a number

I tracked my case via DHL. The CEAC website is quite slow in updating the info. In fact, by the time the embassy received it, the CEAC website just changed to "it's on its way"

and it took about 3 days to arrive. The embassy didn't email me the packet 4, saying that "we received it", until 7 business days after it was sent.

I am glad you brought that up, do you HAVE to fill the DS-160 online or all the paperwork is through the embassy. Don't you first receive Packet 3 first then Packet 4? Also, do they give you an interview date right away ahead of time or your interview date is based off when you return the required forms.

No prob. I can only speak for Nicaragua as every country is different.

I filled out the DS online, I believe that's the only way they'll take it. Then I paid the visa fee. Then and only then was I able to schedule an interview. We didn't receive a packet 3; and as for the packet 4 I emailed the embassy requesting it in e-mail form which they supplied.

I was able to pick the day and time myself

My country portal had the items that are on the packet 4 listed, so by the time we got to this step my fiancé had all docs that he needed

It's a good assumption to make. you guess is as good as mine.

Fiancé only went to the embassy for the interview. I honestly don't remember if I needed the NVC number or not. My initial thought is yes, otherwise I would have filled out the DS way earlier. You can try to fill it out anyway and see how far you get. The worst you'll find is that you gotta get the number, right?

Understood. Lastly, would you be able to provide the actual link to the DS-160 form, also, would you pay the fee within that form or after it is filled out. Additionally, what did Packet 4 contain exactly. Did you have to schedule the medical yourself as well?

I first filled out the form THEN paid the fee via pay pal. You should find instructions for that according to your country on the website and after you fill out the form

Had to wait 12-24 hours after fee was paid in order to schedule interview.

Packet four contains the list of docs that they want to see at the time of the interview; police records, birth certificate, (singleness certificate possibly if there's one for the country you/your fiancé is from), I-134, tax returns (I gave 3 previous years), MY birth certificate

Have you checked your country's portal? You may be lucky enough that someone has posted what items the packet 4 will be asking for...

There are some civil doctors that want to see the packet 4 before even scheduling medical. Some are fine seeing the DS-160 confirmation page, and others still don't ask for anything other than an ID. I had my fiancé call around first, find the cheapest one. The one he found wanted to see the confirmation page of the interview that we scheduled.

In short, to answer the last question, yes we set up and scheduled the medical stuff ourselves (well...himself, I had nothing to do with that part )
