Hello,

I was notified by a Tier 2 Officer at USCIS that my approved case was forwarded to the NVC on 1/25/2016, this past Monday. My case was actually approved on 1/21/2016 which was last Thursday. How long does it take to actually get there, is it Express Shipping? Also, if they shipped it out this past Monday, good chance it gets a case number soon?

^^ Yep, you'll need to wait about a month. NVC needs to receive and process the petition as well as assign a case number and invoice ID.

You can start calling NVC in about 3 weeks or so to see if they've assigned a case number yet.

When you call the NVC they tell you to wait about 35 days. However, if you read most people's experience on here, they usually say a case number will be ready in about 10 business days from your approval.

I called on Monday (8 business days from approval) and my case number wasn't ready. Then I called on Wednesday (10 business days exactly from approval) and received my case and invoice number.

I would say wait 10 business days from your approval to start calling. Good luck :)

Also, what happens at the NVC exactly, i am seeing all this IV Fee and AOS, but I thought NVC just stamps a case number and sends it on off to the respective embassy in the country?

Thats for people who are going through the process of immigrant visas. They would need to submit all those fees and documents at NVC.

For K1 applicants, NVC simply sends the petition to the US embassy.

This is all I needed thank you so much, others, please confirm what teeak stated i true, again, my case for a 129F/K1 petition was approved, is the NVC simply stamping a different case number and sending it to the respective embassy and then I am done with the NVC???

Yup, what they said. As K1 visa-ers, they'll just process our paper work and assign the case and invoice numbers. Then they'll ship it off to the embassy that you selected at the beginning of the process. You can go to the country sub-forum to see what happens next as each country and embassy process the next steps differently.

looks like me and you should hopefully be approved soon!

Also, once it gets to the embassy, what typically happens from there, just mainly the medical then bam, final interview afterwards like a week or 2 after the medical??

Just depends on what country/embassy you're going to—process, documents needed and etc. varies across countries. I can't see what country you're from so I can't really help you very much.

For Mexico, I can start scheduling the interview and medical before I receive Packet 3. However, it might be different for you. Other countries expect you to send your Packet 3 documents before you can schedule and pay for anything. Check your country sub-forum and you can see what you can start preparing while you wait. There is a variety of things you might need to prepare before hand—police certificates, tax documents of the petitioner, affidavit of support, letters, vaccination records, etc etc.

Last question maspas,

Do you send in the documents required in Packet 3 via email or they send it to your house and you mail it back to them??

Again, you'll just have to check your country's sub forum. It all depends on what country you (or whoever the beneficiary) is from. The people from your country will know better how and what to do than I will.

Good luck to you!
