Same thing happened to my husband. It took a week for him to get his SSN. He didn't need a SSN to open a joint bank account with me at Wells Fargo though!

my husband's bank is USAA, they won't issue a card for me until we give them my SSN..eventho we told them that my GC was approved, they still want my SSN... they said they will put my name in the account while waiting for my SSN...

My social security card arrived about 10 days after we applied

awesome! i'm coming to 10 days in couple days, it is hard to just stay at home and can't do anything... :(

How long has it been so far? As I said before, manual verification takes time. Ours took 6.5 weeks.

gosh! i don't think i can wait that long!! :crying: this is the second week since we applied... :( i waited 10 days to applied..the officer didn't say anything to us ( he seemed unfriendly; he almost rejected my request again to get SSN with EAD cuz he said i don't have ID card..! it was the same officer that rejected my request to get SSN using I-94 )

My husband and I opened a TD account in the US before we even had our K1 aswell I just needed a passport.

we've been trying to put my name in his account since before i got here, but they won't do it... :(

Weird, they just asked for my passport! He actually added me before my K1 was approved.

well I guess everywhere is different. I like wells Fargo tho they were able to give me scared credit card so I can build credit, when his other bank refused . Now I have a better credit score than my husband .

I think everywhere is diff or that the person working there. Does not know policies cause when I went to my back for example first person said I needed a passport plus all this evidence which took close to a month to get them all an when I went there a sec time the person said all I needed was my passport 0-0

I was uber frustrated but atleast I got my evidence early for when I go for GC interview if I get one :)

Congrats Heley!

We had our interview today, and he approved us on the spot. He said we should get our green card within 2-4 weeks, but I'm expecting it sooner rather than later. He really wanted to see photos and was happy that the ones we brought were labeled and dated. I was surprised that he didn't ask about a joint bank account or anything--he really stressed that that was more important for the removal of conditions rather than this process. He made some copies of our wedding invitations and I handed over all of our relationship evidence for him to add to the file. Additionally, he said the Chicago lockboxes were created to make it easier on the local offices--contractors at that lockbox compile everything in our file and then send it to the local office to reduce their burden of work. He said removing conditions was a process that was created because people would just get their 10 year green card and then divorce their spouse the next day since they could become a citizen in 5 years without their help. That's awful haha! He said it would be important to include joint assets, bank account, and photo evidence.

Congrats!! That's awesome it must feel really good to know your GC is on the way. Can I ask what kind of pictures you took to the interview. Were they mostly wedding pictures or did you have some of your old K1 interview pics too. I'm asking because we just had a civil wedding without guest and a justice of the peace. We are planning a larger (cake, guest, etc) at the end of the year. We haven't taken many photos since I arrive as my hubby is mostly working and busy and we've just been doing boring everyday stuff lol. I hope this won't affect us if we have an interview.

YAY!!!!

I was waiting on ur post about ur interview and I had no doubt in my mind that you would pass, I guess u donthaveto worry about the EAD/AP card anymore as your getting the GC in 2 weeks ;)

Yeah I'm not worried about it anymore--thank you MASH!

Yes my husband is happy :) So honestly, we weren't going to take any photos to the interview but I just randomly found all our K1 visa photos last night that we submitted with that petition and I thought I would just bring it on the off chance the officer asked. I honestly didn't think they cared about photos, so that was the last thing on my mind. I wouldn't worry about if you have photos after your wedding or not. We haven't even had our wedding ceremonies yet, so we had a lot more photos from before we were legally married--I think they just want to see evidence of you being together.

Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you guys, but I had no doubts you would be approved.

What questions did he ask?

Thanks iPod! He asked my husband most of the terrorist/prostitute/public assistance questions on the I485, then he asked me about how we met and when we decided that we wanted to start dating--he mostly just wanted to know about our story. He complimented my husband on his English and said he wanted to go to France one day haha. It was very laid back and conversational, and he said there was no problem at all with our application and that he could tell it was legitimate. We got a very nice officer!

I asked him if it's easy to discern fraudulent couples from legit couples, and he said it was, but he had been doing it for a while so he could easily tell.

We handed over all our photos (about 15 or so) and wedding invitations for him to look at. He didn't ask for anything else, but we gave these items to him at the end just to add to our file: car insurance, joint health insurance, joint apartment lease, upcoming flight tickets, cell phone family plan, and our document from the french embassy in D.C. proving that our marriage is legally recognized in France + translations of that document.

:dancing: :joy: :dancing: congratulations

Thank you HopeFab!

Yay, congrats!! And thank you so much for posting this, all of this information is really good to know and makes me feel a lot better about our upcoming interview. Sounds like most interviews for people adjusting from K1s are quick and easy. Phew!

Thank you kikibozu and good luck on your interview! I'll keep you all updated when we receive the GC!

Question time: I know many of you are on K-visas, I'm wondering if anyone is on L or H and adjusting through marriage, or if anyone has seen a question like mine below answered someone...

I'm wondering about the use of the EAD and how it affects my L1. I want to use my EAD card to change to a US salary & payroll with the same company that sponsored the L1B. It's the exact same job, I'd just receive 2x-3x in USD salary which is significant if I have to wait 8-12 months for I-485 approval. Denver is way behind right now. I've read a lot about people changing employers and that by definition voids their L/H visas, but there's very little about people keeping the same employer. In fact the most I found was someone calling this exact thing a "gray area" because USCIS apparently has no rules on it.

So my question is, if my I-485 gets denied would I be able to revert back to the L1B visa after using the EAD?

You should ask a lawyer, but I don't see why you'd need to use your EAD for that. Why can't they just pay you more on L1?

Just called USCIS and inquired to a Tier 2 officer about my case! The woman was able to tell me that my I-485 was transferred to my local office on April 13th 2016. I'm curious when they will book me for a green card interview or approve me.

I'm nervous because I'm travelling out of the country and I don't want to be schedule for an interview when I'm on vacation. I'm hoping if I do get an interview the month out will apply because I am back from my trip June 17th making me in country after.

Does anyone have any info about once your case is transferred how long does it take to hear something.

Hold onto your hat its going to be a bumpy ride!!

but don't worry you'll get through it :luv:
