I had a strange update today. I requested an expedite of my EAD because I have a job offer on April 28. On May 1 I received an approval notice for my AP, dated April 28. I haven't received the card yet.

This morning I received an email from uscis asking for more information to expedite my EAD. I'm a bit confused. I thought that AP/EAD were approved at the same time and that you receive a combo card. Has anyone ever heard of receiving an AP card without the EAD?

Arrived on P1 Visa - 2012

Married USC - 1/20/16

Filed I-485/130/131/765 - 2/16/16

NOA1 - 2/19/16

Biometrics Appt - 3/17/16 (Successful Walk-in 3/7/16)

RFE - 3/18/16

Service request for EAD due to job offer - 4/28/16

AP - Approval notice 4/28/16

6/20 - EAD/AP card received (finally)

8/15 - interview scheduled for 9/23

8/22 - interview canceled

11/2 - interview rescheduled for 12/7

11/14 - interview canceled (AGAIN!!!!)

I did receive my approval letter for AP last week and my EAD is not approved yet.

So I just got my EAD + AP combo card today! Total surprise. I got the I-797 physical approval notice yesterday (although the notice date on the I-797 was May 2nd) — which is the only notification I got for my case since biometrics appointment — and then a text and email notification that the card was was delivered to me. Bizarre.

Have hope everyone!!!! One way or another, we will all end up having actual green cards.

Congrats!

Hey guys. I heard case number start wit msc or national bentift center takes longer to process applications . Is it true?

Not true--I've actually heard the opposite in regards to the I485 in that those processed at the NBC usually pass up the interview and go straight to approval.

Does this mean we can't raise the over 90 days request now?

Not at all. The 90 day expedite is in reference to your specific AOS timeline and not the timeline of the local offices.

They're usually approved together, but a lot of people in this thread have been getting an approval for one and not the other. It's not that odd that you haven't received your EAD approval, especially since they want more specific evidence for the expedite.

I'm going home in 9 days. One question, do we just need to show them AP when we come back?

Of course you will need to show them. That's the purpose of applying for AP.

Lol I think they were asking if they needed to show AP on return or when leaving. Kimmyxin, the U.S. doesn't care if you leave--they're only concerned when you're trying to come back. So yes, you will need to show it in customs at your POE.

Still at work, but will check when I get home! They are taking forever. If you haven't gotten it, I doubt I will. If we haven't received it by this coming Saturday, I will begin to panic. We are moving immediately after our GC interview and I don't want anything sent to this mailbox after that. I still get the old tenant's mail a year after she moved out!

I would say give it a try, worst thing that could happen is them telling you to call back after 90 days.

I am waiting for a miracle at this point. No EAD/AP approval, nothing about green card. I know the 2nd biometrics screwed me over big time but it still sucks.

I'm not sure how they screwed up ur case like that ,before ur first bio you should have called them and advd them about it cause they had no right to do that to you , it feels like USCIS can treat us like there little play things that if they make a stomach that's ok cause it's not there life on the line Edited by MASH

When u get approved for AP only, you dont get a card instead you get a letter. Now if you get approved for EAD and AP at the same time, you get a combo card(EAD, that can be used as AP too). So yes, a lot of people have gotten AP approved before EAD and they received a letter which you can travel with. When your EAD is approval, you will get a card just for your EAD.
