wow so you were able to get your driver's license without EAD? Was it before your i-94 expired? I brought pretty much everything I had to the DMV but I guess the name change in process messed it up. Congrats, it sounds like you got super lucky with everything. EAD combo card should have definitely been enough to change your name but it seems like there's some huge discrepancies across SS offices.

Thank you, I am so grateful and literally I did not believe it until my GC was delivered.

I got my DL way after my I-94 expired. I was thinking I was not even gonna go to DMV until after I receive EAD but then I figured I got nothing to lose and so I gave it a shot. My I-94 was expired but they used the passport, marriage certificate and recent I-797 from biometrics which had my US address and married name...the lady at DMV even pulled out some powerpoint handouts that she followed as she was processing my request. Either way it seems DL processing prior getting EAD varies quite a bit by state (I got my DL at Ohio).

In any case I would say maybe check if there are wait times for scheduling road test (how much they are booked up), maybe you can book one ahead if you know your EAD is on its way and save time that way. You can also get state ID just to have something before you take the driving test. Or try bigger DMV office, like the main one in the biggest nearest city. I find with government offices it sometimes helps going to the bigger ones downtown where they are used to dealing with non-standard cases.

Best of luck!!!

Whose case was sent on to their local office and whose stayed at the National Center in Missouri? Just wondering

Pardon my ignorance, but how would we know which office we were processed at?

K1, EAD/AP + AOS + ROC = 0 RFE's

Next step: Citizenship!

Was just looking for work online and applied. Went to a few job interviews and told them my situation. It actually depends on the employer if they still want to pursue with you and if they are willing to wait. :)

On the top part of letter (like for biometrics appointment) it will have the service center on there. I am not sure when exactly it gets sent on to local office, but wondering myself about that as well.
