Just woke up with a couple of texts from uscis:

-My daughter's combo card was delivered. Yay! I ran like a crazy person to the mailbox and there it was!

-Got my noa1 for the EAD I had to resend last week. It shows as "Validation error" when I enter it in my case status tho. Too soon I guess

.

Congrats Goolia and all the approvals!! ???

Congratulations Goolia!!

So we tried a walk in at the Bronx today. After a little discussion, I was told to come back at 12 ( it's actually written down on my notice.

It was funny, I actually had to correct the officier about the codes... He told me having 2 appointments is normal! Told him that everyone I know who applied for EAD/AP AND Green Card only had 1 appointment with code 3, which should normally cover both.

Now I have 1.5 hours left to wait, So I will go eat some pancakes at IHop! Lmao

I tried to take my road test on Saturday (29 years old and this year was the first time I ever attempted to drive a car since I lived in a big city and relied on transit), got there at 7am and was there for 3 hours. At first they said they couldn't find me in the SAVE database and then they said that the database was down and Immigration didn't know about it until all the DMV's started calling to complain... they said Immigration was working on the problem so I could wait or reschedule... I chose to wait. I went to the social security office about a week before to change my name since I had just gotten my EAD and they didn't let me change it without it. So THEN they started to say well your name change hasn't gone through the SSA office yet blah blah blah but when it does we'll contact you to reschedule your road test appointment ASAP. Highly disappointing since I was so pumped up (aka my heart rate was 125) and prepared and now I'm just in limbo again.

I hear you ... I tried to change my SSN to married name last week and they said they can't do it and that I should come back with my green card. Luckily, I received it Friday so I will do it this week but thought it was weird the EAD Combo Card was not enough. I guess that database problem explains it.

As for driving license I was able to get mine just using passport, SSN card (maiden name), marriage certificate and most recent I-797(married name). My DL is in my married name and I got it a few weeks before my EAD combo card arrived.

Also I got USPS tracking updated on online USCIS case status page for EAD card but not for the Green Card. But they both took only 2-3 days since they were mailed and a week since the "card in production" status.

Good Luck!

wow so you were able to get your driver's license without EAD? Was it before your i-94 expired? I brought pretty much everything I had to the DMV but I guess the name change in process messed it up. Congrats, it sounds like you got super lucky with everything. EAD combo card should have definitely been enough to change your name but it seems like there's some huge discrepancies across SS offices.
