Our biometrics appointment was 3/4 but our case hasn't been updated since 2/10...still says 'fingerprint fee was received' for I-485 and 'case was received' for I-131 & I-765. So we wait patiently.... :clock: We were finally able to get my husband his PA ID card and driver's permit, so that is exciting progress

how did u get driver permit? With out ead or gc?

does it have to b 1 pm like they wrote or it can b 2 or 3 latter that day. We are trying so my husband won't take off work. Usually he b home 1:30 so I was wondering if I can go after

No you must go at your scheduled time or if your office allows walk ins you can go before but that's it. You should not intentionally miss your bio appt even if it's just by a couple hours people have been turned away and that can have detrimental effects on your case.

Hold onto your hat its going to be a bumpy ride!!

but don't worry you'll get through it :luv:

There is no need for your husband to come with you.. If you dont have a car - there is always uber and lyft !

Yes please, I would love to know! I am going into the NJ MVC at some point in the next couple of weeks with all my paperwork but from everything I have read and everyone I have spoken to on the phone, NJ seems to require the EAD. I have heard stories though where people were able to successfully get around this simply by constantly going in and demanding to speak to supervisors, etc. Is PA similar in that sense or are the requirements different?

One of the users above posted that they were transitioning from a K-1 and received notice of an interview. Their biometric was on March 9th I believe, so I hope everyone in that time frame gets good news soon!

Yes, I did see that and have been checking my own updates twice as often after reading that haha. Seems to be an anomaly though. Still, it's so hard not to get your hopes up after seeing that.

I wouldnt risk it..

That's what I did! Your hubsand likely won't be able to wait in the same area as you anyway!

If you want your NJ driver's license prior to EAD, you better go soon. You have to have 60d left on your I-94, otherwise you won't get it.

I know in my state (NC), they don't require the EAD or GC to get a permit or the license. You just need 3 pieces of documentation, such as your certified marriage certificate, the beneficiary's passport, and his/her I-94. For the license, you also need proof of insurance.

how did u get driver permit? With out ead or gc?

In Pennsylvania you can get an ID/Driver's License with a K-1 visa or while adjusting status (you can print out the regulations and documents needed on the PennDot website). We took all of the paperwork listed for someone adjusting status, as well as all of the K-1 documents, to the local DMV. After talking with multiple people they concluded that he was eligible, but that they needed to send our request to their main office in order to get verification of his status. That central office approved him to apply for his ID/License and sent us a notification via mail. Once we had this letter we returned to the local DMV and were issued a Pennsylvania ID that was good for a year. We went back a couple weeks later for the driving permit. This was easy to get because his information was already in the system from the ID card. We will eventually have to return after we get his GC to extend the validity of everything, but at least he can start to drive!

So in Pennsylvania it is possible, but be ready with all of your paperwork and do your research before you go because they may not be familiar with all of the different visa categories and regulations...

For the driver's license, it really depends on the state. I know that in California they only accept the I-797 once it's approved or the EAD or the green card.

I'm very upset - just got a RFE via text. My religious wedding ceremony is July 9th in Canada and I'm not sure how long the delays are after an RFE. I suspect that the RFE is tax related but my husband makes 5 times the USCIS income. I'm just waiting for the paper copy.

Does anyone know from experience or looking at January how long the delay is with an RFE?

I am probably going to miss my stagette in Toronto. So sad today.

Applied February 12th

I had an RFE for my I-485 (something stupid--I forgot to enter my husband's name at one part) got the paper copy about a week after the text and less than 2 weeks later after I sent the response I got a reply saying they were working on it again... but to my understanding an RFE for the I-485 should have nothing to do with the advance parole filing processing time so I wouldn't worry too much :)

Hi everyone,

I've been following this thread so thought I'd share my timeline with everyone too. I'm adjusting from a J1 work visa. Got married at a court house mid January and submitted everything shortly afterwards.

AoS Timeline

2/1/2016: sent away AOS package

2/12/2016: Receipt notices PD 2/9

3/7/2016: biometrics notice

3/14/2016: request for initial evidence

3/21/2016: biometrics completed

The RFE we received was regarding the affidavit of support and two pages with blank boxes. Our lawyer has told us these requests are common and should not hold the process up any longer than a week/two weeks. We are waiting now on the notification that they have received our revised paperwork and then hopefully be scheduled for interview! It's so great to see people's processes moving along quickly - so psyched for you guys that have interviews already!

Good luck to everyone. Thank you all for being so helpful.
