I can't stress enough what RJ said: RESEARCH! Know what lies ahead before you get here and start gathering what you can beforehand. There is a lot of paperwork no matter what step of the process you go through. AOS is, in some ways, easier in that you can wait it out together. A lot of the information can be filled out ahead of time so that when you are ready to concentrate on AOS, you've done a lot of the work. IF you read the Guides it does tell you what the next steps are. AOS shouldn't be a surprise to anyone doing this process.
