Thanks so much for the info! I'm sending my fiance from san pedro to do this next week.

Birth Certificate - was this easy for you to request? do you know if there's a fee for requesting this (i.e. mail fee)?

Police Certificate - I had heard we could do this in the same day..does it really take 5-7 days? if that is the case, do you know if they'll mail it?

Birth Certificates - It was easy, my mom went to request them and she send them to me to the US i think we paid like 200 lps but not sure. I got 3 of each so I can used them to USCIS and NVC and I took them to my interview too.

Police certificate- yes it was easy aswell but not the person who requested it have to go to pick it up or someone else with the same last name (i.e siblings, parents) they can't mail it to you.

Hello, My In-law asked for the Certificacion del Expediente de Vida at the RNP and it took 3 days to recieve. My lawyer said it was the form with the grandparents name, but it does not included it because years ago it was not necessary to include grandparents name at time of registration. I'm not sure if anyone could pick up being it was the mother who did. I have not received it yet. I was sent a phone pic only. Once I receive I will sent to NVC and hopefully get an appointment soon. I hope its what they want because in order to have grandparents name we will need a lawyer.

We are using certified copies of the marriage and birth certificate. That's what they used for my wife's sisters.

I didn't have any issues with USCIS about the birth certificate. I had sent a normal original. NVC in the other hand didn't accept it. Apparently the embassy also wants this Certificación del Expediente de Vida.

Oh so I will need to find this Certificacion del Expediente de Vida for the NVC and interview?

Yes, and get in soon! Ours was shipped 4/25 and is still in honduras customs. This really sucks! I know we have been patient all these years why not wait a bit more, but children go to school in August and an appointment at the end of the year will be difficult.

My fiance just went down to tegus this week to get the birth certificate (long form) and police certificate. Kind of a pain, but she made a trip of it. Police was easy, RNP made her walk 10 blocks to a bank to get a receipt (they dont print their own). But using the receipts, a friend can pick up both and mail back to her next week.

Well I'm going down there for 6 weeks and we are going together. So no shipping required. I didn't say but what about the marriage certificate. Did you send the one that looks like the birth certificate you sent or is there a special one for that too?

Its going to be a pain for us as well. 8hr bus ride one way for a single piece of paper. I thought the 3hr bus ride for a $50 piece of paper that says "I said I was single in front of a notary" was crazy...

So the Certificacion del Expediente de Vida arrived, but no grandparents names on it!! My fiance really hounded them to make sure it included it, and the two receptionists were eye-rolling like, yeah we know, don't worry. And then it arrives without grandparents names. So Honduras.. :(

It is verified and has the blue background thought.

Edit: this is for a K1 visa. Anybody know if we truly need grandparents names included?

I was actually about to ask if they need different papers between K1 and CR1/I1...

Mines is a CR/1. My husbands expediente de vida arrived without grandparents name because when his parents registered him it was not required. We mailed it and it arrived at the nvc on May 13. Now we are waiting for them to review. I will keep updating when I recieve an answer from them.
