Bringing Sister from the Philippines

Hello everyone. Does any one know how long it is taking for siblings from the Philippines to be approved and receive their immigrant visa? The plan is to file the I130 this year. I know its going to take a long time but does any one know how long? Ive read the length of time varies by country of origin. Were also going to attempt to get a B2 Tourist visa done so while we wait for her immigrant visa, she can still visit from time to time and hopefully for periods of 6 months ^_^.

One question/issue is my sister is from the philippines but is currently working as a house keeper in kuwait. Her contract is only two years. So i am assuming her interview would be at the embassy in Kuwait? Would this effect the length of time it will be approved and for her visa?

Also considering doing an I130 for my father. Any one know length of time for parents from philippines? thanks. So any advice will help.

My husband is also active duty military, so if that would help anything lol.

Thanks again everyone.

For your dad it will take about 1 year. For your sister it will take about 23 years. If the sister is not married and remains single dad could petition for her after he becomes an LPR and the wait time would be about 10 years.

That sounds like a much better plan than waiting 23 years lol. My sister is unmarried, but she has 3 children, all under the age 10. Would that effect the length of time?

So to clarify, the 1 year would be from filing date to my dad arriving in the US or just till its approved? How long must a parent wait after arriving in the US before they can become LPR? Thanks for your quick reply.

hi

your husband has nothing to do with this

if you file for your sister 23 to 25 years of waiting

for your dad, around a year

if he files for your sister, the wait is over 10 years and she must remain single unless your father becomes a USC

Hello everyone. Does any one know how long it is taking for siblings from the Philippines to be approved and receive their immigrant visa? 23-24 years. The plan is to file the I130 this year. I know its going to take a long time but does any one know how long? 23-24 years. read the length of time varies by country of origin. Were also going to attempt to get a B2 Tourist visa done so while we wait for her immigrant visa, she can still visit from time to time and hopefully for periods of 6 months ^_^. Extremely unlikely that she will get a visa to visit for periods of 6 months. No one has that kind of vacation time. Who is going to care for her 3 kids under 10 while she vacations in the US for 6 months at a time? How is she going to feed her children when she can't legally work in the US during those periods of 6 months that she is here?

One question/issue is my sister is from the philippines but is currently working as a house keeper in kuwait. Her contract is only two years. So i am assuming her interview would be at the embassy in Kuwait? Her interview will not happen for 23-24 years, so a 2 years contract in Kuwait will be long over. Would this effect the length of time it will be approved and for her visa? No.

Also considering doing an I130 for my father. Any one know length of time for parents from philippines? 1 year. thanks. So any advice will help.

My husband is also active duty military, so if that would help anything lol. No. No special treatment for your family based on your husband being in the military.

Thanks again everyone.

That sounds like a much better plan than waiting 23 years lol. My sister is unmarried, but she has 3 children, all under the age 10. Would that effect the length of time? No. However, children who turn 21 years old during the wait may age out and not be eligible for visas when mom gets hers.

So to clarify, the 1 year would be from filing date to my dad arriving in the US or just till its approved? It's all approximate. About a year. How long must a parent wait after arriving in the US before they can become LPR? A person arriving on an immigrant visa immediately becomes an LPR upon entering the US. for your quick reply.

The timelines for her appear a trifle optimistic.

eh - that's one path -

but her sister could find her a 'nice man' to marry in the usa, nearby in the same county. Or not... Wrinkles matter, especially 23 years later.

The childrens father is currently taking care of them with the help of my grandmother and other siblings. They are making it work best they can, while she works for 2 years in kuwait. So 6 months "vacation" is nothing compared to that. Any way, thank you all for your input. It appears the best action is to get my father here, then have him apply for my sister soon as possible.

Going by the Instructions for I130, all we need is the form itself, my birth certificate and my fathers marriage certificate to my mother. Anything else i would need. He doesnt currently have a passport so were going to start working that this month.
