So question for everyone - Someone on one of the Visa Facebook groups said they saw someone get denied at interview because the interviewer looked up her facebook page and saw no pictures of her and her husband. We truly are one of those couples that like to live in real life and not social media. We don't feel FB defines your relationship, it's the real life moments. Crazy I know haha. I am not even friends with my husband on FB, can that really cause an issue? I can't believe it would, if so the world is much more messed up then I thought lol, to base a relationship over FB.

I have heard other stories like that but to be honest, I'm not sure how true this can be. There are other ways to look up evidence of bonafide marriages that are more solid than just Facebook. I agree with you, if this was true then this world is really messed up. Personally, I brought a wedding photo book, an album with pics from our various vacations, and all of my flight, train, and bus tickets I saved from each and every trip during the past 22 months and guess what? they didn't ask for any of it, I'm really convinced by now that they just know, they study your case and look up the things they need to prior to interview and when you arrive it all comes to your answers (which they already have) and the paperwork they ask you to bring ;)

Thanks you!

In my case, it went from "Ready" to "visa Issued" yesterday and it stayed like that ever since. Don't worry, remember each embassy/consulate is different, it could be very well be that they are attaching the Visa to the passport (that is how they issued to my hubby, and putting together the package in the typical manila envelope and taking their time to do it ;)

You are absolutely right! I just checked again. I actually said out loud "probably nothing changed, but it doesn't hurt to check"

Congratulations to all who successfully passed their interviews and got their visas.

I wonder how long is the immigration visa usually valid for?

Also is this visa is a one-time or multiple entries?

I am asking because I may need to travel back shortly after landing and before I get the GC in mail.

Thank you.

The Visa is valid for 6 months and as soon as you enter the US within those 6 months, you become a Legal Permanent Resident. If I remember correctly, they stamp your passport at your Port of Entry and you can travel with it until your Green Card arrives. Just remember, as a LPR, you should not stay out of the US more than 6 months at a time.

Once you cross and activate your visa, you can go back and forth with the stamp in your passport. That acts as a temporary green card until your actual green card arrives in the mail.

Hey question for you:

How many digits follow the letter A in the visa number? BTW: This number becomes the Green Card number.

I am asking because I have noticed some confusion among some members when the try to register online to pay the Green Card immigrant fee of $ 165.00. (That's right, Uncle Sam is not done with us yet, more money for him), and $ 500 more to lift up conditions in about a year an half plus more paper work.

I do not know now, but back in the early 80s, that number was also the ALIEN NUMBER under INS.

Once you enter US soil, the stamped resident visa on your passport (I-551) is valid for one year.

But within 2 to 3 months you should receive your green card.

Yours is like mine, I am just curious about what USCIS is issuing now, seems there has been a change in the amount of digits and that is the confusing part when registering for ELIS.

Took a break from reading so I have not read the past 52 posts, but correct me if I am wrong, but the NVC is basically done with March scheduling, right? That is, unless some embassy checks in to say that "Bob and Susan" could not make it to the interview and a spot opens up. So, makes no sense to call until they start with the April interview dates in the last week of THIS month and the first week of March it seems? The vibe I got is that they ONLY schedule upcoming appts in the LAST week of any given month and the FIRST week of any given month, give and take an extra or less day or two. So, this means, we're in the "dead zone" for February, I suspect?

Anyone got an interview date between last Friday and today?
