Case Complete to Interview March 2016

I am intrigued now.

I wanted to file electronically like I always have done in the past. But when you file MFS (Married filing separately) with a spouse outside the US without SSN you can not file electronically because you have to write NRA (non resident alien) in the SSN field for your spouse.

So my question to you is did you file as SINGLE status or your spouse has a ITIN since 2014?

We filed for ITIN with our 2014 taxes. So I had the ITIN this year and I was able to use that to file electronically. We filed MFJ for both 2014 and 2015.

Electronically you can have case complete in 7 to 14 days at Montreal as long as the have everything they need from you. They've been hitting these numbers lately.

Wonderful!

So lets say my petition will arrive to the NVC in 4 weeks, then 14 days to CC, and then 2 months to interview? Did I understand you correctly?

As long as it works like the I-130 process, then yes - give or take a few days. This assumes you have no RFE's or checklists. Work visas do have limits on the number that they hand out, where IR-1 and CR-1 do not.

Well, you filed early so you might get lucky. I hesitate to post about this again because I said this once before and someone practically called me a liar hence why I quit posting about it and anything else for a while but...

When we sent our 2014 taxes in with the ITIN request, we had the ITIN in the mail in about 2 weeks and the refund about 10 days later. So, since you filed early you might have a chance.

Now, maybe we did just get lucky. If so, it is the only part of this process in which we did considering that our I-130 took 10 months to approve and it took a full month to get our case to NVC.

So here's hoping that yours gets through fast too!

Some people have the tendency to rush to judgement without knowing the facts first.

That is why systematically I asked you all the questions, not because I thought you lied, but at one point I was in doubt if you made a mistake filing electronically as SINGLE, that would have been a huge mistake that could cause denial of your spouse's visa and get you in big trouble with the IRS. (BTW, if that was the case it could be fixed by filing a 2015 amendment).

I wanted to have a 2015 transcript, but I gave up that idea because my wife's interview is on March 1st.

I do not expect the CO to ask us for 2015 taxes because still is early, but just in case I am bringing a copy of the 2015 tax return with W2 and updated I-864EZ.

Thanks for your wish, but I really consider myself blessed by getting my wife's interview in 175 days since I mailed the I-130.

No! No! I wasn't talking about you calling me a liar! What I meant was that a long time ago someone had asked about the ITIN. I had responded about how easy it was and told them what I did and how soon it happened. Another person wrote me and basically said I was lying and that it was very doubtful I had even obtained an ITIN because it's really hard to get one and that even if I did, it wouldn't have come that fast. So I just didn't post anymore about it after that.

That's what I was referring to...not your posts!

And best of luck on your interview!

LOL! This is why I sometimes hate writing stuff! It's hard to tell people's expressions. I wasn't upset when I wrote I wrote that at all. So sorry if you thought I meant anything bad. Your previous post said something like "I wasn't call you a liar". I was just making it clear that I did not think that at all and that I was talking about a previous post. I was concerned that you thought that and just was letting you know I wasn't thinking anything bad about your intentions. I was in a good mood when I wrote that. I was just hurrying to reply because I was thinking "Oh no! He thinks I called him a liar!" and I was kind of giggling to myself about how much stuff can get misinterpreted when people can't read your facial expressions while you're typing.

I think that's my cue that posting in forums is just not the thing for me! It's better for me to just monitor... :)

Got to admit I hate tax season for so many reasons. The confusion of filing, where , when, what, April 15th Lord help us all. :ranting::protest:

Mu advice is anyone with a April Interview coming and after do you 2015 taxes have ready for interview. If asked for 2015 and new I-864 great you have if not no problem. Every year different embassies ask and at different times some ask in March you never know so better to be prepared. This topic gets beat to death.

Good luck everyone. I just did my taxes and I believe I can pay off the US National Debt. So sad. :crying:
