Hi there, yes, the embassy let me in with my wife for the interview...I'm the petitioner and a US citizen so I suppose that makes it okay; not sure what would happen if someone who isn't the petitioner and isn't a USC tried to join. Their final answer was "approved" and told us my wife would receive the passport in Lahore by the end of the month. He wanted to wait until after our wedding anniversary in a few days, before he processed the visa. I'm still not clear on what difference that makes and how this approach was truly to my wife's advantage, but not much choice I had in the matter!

It's the date that you enter the US that matters. If you enter on or after your 2 year wedding anniversary, you'll get a permanent green card (IR-1). If you enter the US before your 2 year wedding anniversary, you'll get a conditional green card (CR-1)

Hi all

I need to ask you about this.

If it´s like some says that we can´t use/ask for this unless the case is at the Embassy, then i think we need to add that to the page.

For me it seems funny that the Embassy can´t contact NVC and ask them to forward the case.

NVC is done with it and has no need to hold it.

And if the Embassy has "spare" dates they can use, it will in my mind be for something like this.

So if some have had the luck with asking for a better date, pls let me and other know if:

- The case was at embassy

- If case was at NVC

Thanks.

I did ask for it while case is in amsterdam but no reaction of their side :(

And no reaction means no expedite

I just got off the phone with NVC and they've scheduled my husband's interview in Montreal - 3/31/16 at 10:30 am! This is a huge relief as things moved through NVC faster than we expected, and as a result I was worried his would be scheduled between March 21 and 28, when he's coming to Boston to visit me for Easter (flight already booked)! Phew!!

Congrats! That's fantastic! :goofy:

No Interview for me yet. I called and a rather stern lady said I will need to wait until March to get my interview date. Apparently they weren't joking when they said my case was officially complete yesterday. I made mention that three different reps in the past had said my case was completed and of course the usual "I can't speak to what they said" answer. So then April it will be! Gives me more time to save up money to eat at Joe Beef in Montreal for our celebration dinner.. lol :)

Congrats to everyone else who got their interview date! Super exciting! :goofy:

This is odd considering you had your CC before us. I wonder if it had to do with the fact that they were just entering it into the system the other day.

What i was thinking, is that if they dont mail the case to Embassy before about 14 days before.

There is no way that we can use that email thing unless the Embassy can ask for the case before.

That's what I'm thinking.. but apparently the previous reps just assumed it was complete because the system showed 3 n/a's. Kinda sucks but in the grand scheme of things it was still processed quickly and can't complain. Besides, hope it's warmer in Montreal in April as I turn into a wimp in the Canadian cold. lol

My husband's interview is Tuesday. I've checked CEAC just out of curiosity and the case status stays "ready", but the case update has changed February 10,and now February 11. This just means that the CO is looking things over and preparing for the interview probably, right?

It doesn't change anything, but it's nice to see some activity! I'm so super excited! I can't wait to have my husband home with me!!!

Yep they are preparing just like you. So excited for you. :dancing:

I just got off the phone with NVC and they've scheduled my husband's interview in Montreal - 3/31/16 at 10:30 am! Yea, been pretty quiet. Just waiting to see how this all pans out for us with the interview.

So, if the "email" is the official notification. Its 30-60 days from the date listed or from the date that NVC informed me? I realize because of the country that I am dealing with it could measure up to far greater than the 60 days but my questions are just for knowledge purposes.

Look at it like this right now March interviews are being scheduling. Those getting case complete the last 2 weeks are in what we call "2nd Round" and getting after the 15th dates.

Whenever they schedule interview dates it's usually always (Not absolutely always) at least a 30 day prep. I have seen people who weren't an expedite get just 10 days, some 2 weeks. Just depends on case complete and how many case to put in the available slots.

It's not just an email it's your OFFICIAL Interview letter that you MUST have to get in the embassy and to most countries medicals.

60ndays only if you were schedule at end of the month for the next months interviews, i.e- Scheduled on 1/28 for a 3/28 date.

I have yet to hear back from anyone who got any positive response when their case wasn't there. And the embassy calling NV to tell them to send a case that's not an expedite seems remote at best. But who knows maybe Sweden is different. Good luck.

One more question... I know there's not likely a definitive answer, but any actual experience would be appreciated...

I asked our joint sponsor (who is well qualified) to send tax transcripts from 2012, 2013, and 2014 as well as pay stubs. My endlessly incompetent lawyer told her she only needed to send 2014 and that if they needed the others they would ask for them (are you KIDDING ME?).

My husband and I were going over the documents he had to take with him to the interview and the pdf we had which I thought was the 2012-2014 transcripts was actually only the 2014. My question is :

Will 3 recent pay stubs and 1 year tax forms and same year tax transcripts be enough from our joint sponsor? Or are we likely to get a 221g???

Om pretty upset because I thought we had this all set and now I see our lawyer has cause yet another issue for us. What are our chances of approval with only 1 year of sponsor proof and 4 years of mine? If it makes a difference, our sponsor was a teacher and her income is a government pension plan so it's reliable (as much as anything can be). Also my husband has a private pension that will continue until his death no matter where he lives. If we get that information in front of the Co's nose do you think it could help us at all if they were on the fence about approval?

Exactly. But for an embassy to request your file and you aren't an expedite. Well never seen it.

I think honestly the sending out of petitions 14 to 10 days prior is a pretty new thing. It use to be 30 days prior. But people on VJ went cray cray (this the email on 1st post) and I truly believe the gig is up and they stopping that not giving any time to ask or change.

Wasn't all this turned into NVC?. Many for interview have all 3 years just in case. Interview is the time to have all you think you may need.

Most recent pay stub is all you need if it's YTD,

I would have all 3 years just in case for your joint sponsor can;t hurt. Better to have and not need ya know.
