Great news today! I just got off the phone with NVC and she confirmed that they've scheduled my wife's interview at the Montreal embassy for March 16! Hopefully that means that all the Canada cases will start to move---hope everyone gets their interview dates soon!!

fyi--I went back after that phone call and checked the CEAC status page and it still says 'At NVC'. I'll keep checking to see when it switches to 'In Transit' just to have more info for people tracking the timelines of such things here on the boards.

Congratulations.

Note: Your CEAC status will remain AT NVC until your package leaves NVC about 14 days before your interview.

Hi there, yes, the embassy let me in with my wife for the interview...I'm the petitioner and a US citizen so I suppose that makes it okay; not sure what would happen if someone who isn't the petitioner and isn't a USC tried to join. Their final answer was "approved" and told us my wife would receive the passport in Lahore by the end of the month. He wanted to wait until after our wedding anniversary in a few days, before he processed the visa. I'm still not clear on what difference that makes and how this approach was truly to my wife's advantage, but not much choice I had in the matter!

It could be that your visa category would change from CR-1 (married less than two years) to IR-1 (married more than two years). With the latter you get a 10 year GC, with the former you get a 2 year GC and have to file I-751 to remove conditions. Hope that helps!

No Interview for me yet. I called and a rather stern lady said I will need to wait until March to get my interview date. Apparently they weren't joking when they said my case was officially complete yesterday. I made mention that three different reps in the past had said my case was completed and of course the usual "I can't speak to what they said" answer. So then April it will be! Gives me more time to save up money to eat at Joe Beef in Montreal for our celebration dinner.. lol :)

Congrats to everyone else who got their interview date! Super exciting! :goofy:

I just got off the phone with NVC and they've scheduled my husband's interview in Montreal - 3/31/16 at 10:30 am! This is a huge relief as things moved through NVC faster than we expected, and as a result I was worried his would be scheduled between March 21 and 28, when he's coming to Boston to visit me for Easter (flight already booked)! Hi girl, you have been quiet lately.

That canned message is the official CC email that normally is sent 7 days after the actual CC date.

When NVC assigns you an interview, you will receive via email the Interview Letter (P4).

This letter is sent within 48 hours after your interview is assigned.

Have a good day

Yea, been pretty quiet. Just waiting to see how this all pans out for us with the interview.

So, if the "email" is the official notification. Its 30-60 days from the date listed or from the date that NVC informed me? I realize because of the country that I am dealing with it could measure up to far greater than the 60 days but my questions are just for knowledge purposes.

Hey thanks for the insight. Wish I knew about that earlier, re: the POE timing and I would have mentioned it. At this point I don't want to raise any suspicion with the embassy--why do I want to rush them when the rules state don't book travel until after visa is received.

I guess I can get solace in the fact that I will be closer to renewing my American Airlines Executive Platinum status, lol.

I mentioned to the CO that I didn't mind proceeding as a CR-1 but it sounded like he was making an excuse to just give a longer time estimate.

The 30 to 60 days is just like you call it "canned information". Each country has a history trend and still varies a lot within a particular embassy.

From where you start counting? I do not have an answer because my source of reference is Dwheels76's spread sheet and there are three dates and one count: CC, Interview scheduled , Interview and days between CC and Interview.

So if you want to average CC- to - Interview then is a straight shot.

But averaging Interview Issued or Interview is not that accurate because some people reported the date when they called NVC and were told about the interview and some others reported the date the received the IL (P4) and never called.

If I recall correctly last time I talked to you, the average of CC-Interview for Jamaica was like 90 days???

Address & Phone Number

If it´s like some says that we can´t use/ask for this unless the case is at the Embassy, then i think we need to add that to the page.

For me it seems funny that the Embassy can´t contact NVC and ask them to forward the case.

NVC is done with it and has no need to hold it.

And if the Embassy has "spare" dates they can use, it will in my mind be for something like this.

So if some have had the luck with asking for a better date, pls let me and other know if:

- The case was at embassy

- If case was at NVC

Thanks.
