My husband finally got his visa/passport yesterday! They said "you'll have it within 5 business days. Nope. But I'm so glad he has it now. He's going to be coming in on Monday Feb 29th. (leap day) POE will be Newark, was hoping for Detroit, but the Newark ticket was an incredibly good price so we'll have a little money left over for a nice bottle of wine to celebrate!

Now come on Monday!

I want a glass. Congratulations. Mercies journeys.

Depending on the slots available it's usually no more than a 4 week wait. Scheduling for April starts now. I know for March scheduling CC stopped at 1/26. So it's a wait and see kind of thing.

Hi dwheels76

Do you mean it's around 4 weeks for the NVC to get me a interview date or do you mean my interview could be in 4 week time?

Sorry for all these questions

It's actually kind of cool because you can choose the most convenient date for you and it can be as soon as the following week.

Thanks to ERP0226 I was able to schedule everything the next day after they sent my package to Dominican rep... I'm way ahead thanks to her... They have not yet send me the email telling me the steps to schedule the appointment but I did confirm they already have my documents over there and ready for interview... Sooo I'm ready to go?????? my flight is on the 13...

How long do you think it will take for him to get his passport after the interview if everything goes good and he is approved?

You haven't got your W2 yet. I would really push to at least have that. That's your proof you made what you said you made in 2015.

That was to be sent to you by end of January. Call your employer.

I'm seeing a lot of people talking about taking W2/tax returns etc to the interview - it was my impression that you only have to take what they specify in your interview confirmation letter? So it may not be the case that this is required?

My interview letter said to bring "financial evidence". We brought the transcripts and W2's as a backup. They ended up taking both.

Thank you so much @Dwheels76. I have no idea why they are so backlogged in Jamaica either. I can only assume that it has to do with applications for visitors visas. I see how close everyone is on here and the support you all give each other. That is why I decided to become a member for that very support system also. I must also commend you on your knowledge of the process and the input you make to help others like myself in our journey to get to our loved ones

Hi Edissa508,

When my husband went for his interview earlier this month, he stated that there was only one lady doing all the interviews. I think the real struggle in Jamaica is the lack of officers that are doing the interviews at the Embassy. Hoping they will start to speed things up soon though, there is no reason that people should be waiting 4-5 months for an interview.
