Your accountant is incorrect. File "Married Filing Separately". You will NOT be able to file electronically, which is why your accountant is pushing back. His tax software will not let him type "NRA" (Non-Resident Alien) in the Spouse's SSN spot. So he has to prepare a MANUAL (meaning a hard-copy paper) tax return, and physically write "NRA" in the SSN space.

I agree - trying to get a certified copy of a passport (because it has to be certified at the Embassy/Consulate) is VERY difficult in some countries.

If he is unwilling to do this, find a different accountant.

Yes, as soon as the interview was over, case went to ap and the last update is still the interview date.

We decided it'd be worth to wait a month or two because then we could put that trip money for better use(think of the big picture) haha

If they need to verify (meaning they don't believe what you submitted is authentic) they can notify the IRS. Pretty simple.

It can take 6 months to get a ITIN unless you take all these papers in person. It's better to just wait until spouse gets here then file than amend later and all that .

File for an extension before April 18, it will give you 6 extra months.

For immigration purposes you should file an extension. As far as penalty. The April 15th deadline to file ONLY applies to those who owe. If you expect a refund you can file whenever you like. Those who owe after April 15th you star accruing penalty interest (Not a lot) but it grows everyday.

Lord I am going cray cray trying to get this Interview package together for hubby. Lord it's like all my years of advice and help has left me.

• Originals of all documents submitted
• Divorce Decree
• 2015 W2 and IRS Extension form
• Wedding album
• Picture album with both trips that will cover 6 months of living together
• Since I been here 5 months no chats to submit
• I guess can screen shot some Facebook (like boring. Isn't living together good enough)

Can't think of anything else. Any suggests? I will be outside. My husband wants to get a T-shirt made with "I am DWheels76 Husband" LOL. Don't know if Lagos ready for him. Lord father.

In your list of documents for your folder, in regards to item 1. You aren't referring all the documents submitted to the NVC (as outlined in the travel.state.gov site), correct?

Although I have yet to be scheduled an interview, I have already started preparing the folder so I want to ensure that I am not missing anything. I have a 3" binder that has everything that I had submitted to USCIS for my records, should those copies of those documents be sent as well (I'm a separate folder of course)?

I have copies of 1099 forms , and I will take them to my interview, Is it okay to have just copies I dont have the originals ?
