My case arrived at 2/12, I was assigned a case number on 2/23. I'd say start calling a week or two after it's arrived to get it as soon as possible. They'll send a letter in conjunction with the case number being assigned (I believe – we haven't received ours yet), but if you get the case number on the phone you can also give them your email addresses to get correspondence sent to those instead of just snail mail.

Just a question about the AOS that i'm just about to send.

Do you have to send prove of US citizenship ?

Other than tax issues, pay slips do you need to send the deed of the house to prove assets ?

And what about prove of marriage ?

Also do you have to write N/A for the things that don't apply for you on every questions ?

Thanks for your help guys !

You don't need to prove citizenship with your AOS. You did that at the USCIS petition approval stage. you won't see it listed on the document list from NVC either.

If your tax transcripts/tax returns & w2 prove you are 125% above the poverty line you don't have to send anything additional. If your finances alone don't prove that, then you'll need to send additional proof. They just need you to prove that your going to be financially responsible for your spouse.

You can include a copy of your marriage certificate as proof of marriage -- i called NVC about that one because Proof of Relationship is listed on the AOS section of the document coversheet that came with the Welcome email. the guy said just a copy of the marriage certificate will work. if you're having a joint sponsor for the 864, then I think you'll need to include proof of relationship of that joint sponsor to you or the beneficiary. (i'm not sure about that last sentence, so anyone that knows for sure feel free to correct me.)

Regarding the form 864, Yes, write N/A. don't leave anything blank. I called NVC about this one too...especially since the new forms won't let you type N/A in certain fields depending on how you answered the previous question. the girl i spoke with said not to leave anything blank and to print it out and write in N/A. Don't forget to read through the instructions PDF. That will help you fill in the form properly. don't type in your signature or stamp it....it requires your actual written signature. That's also mentioned in the instructions.

Good luck!

For the Joint Sponsor for the I864 form, you DO NOT need proof of relationship. The Joint Sponsor can be anyone and does not have to be related to the petitioiner or the beneficiary.

However, if the Primary Sponsor (or the Joint Sponsor) are using/relying on the income of any other people in their household for the sponsorship and show this in Part 6 (Items 3 through 16) of their I-864 form, then these other people WILL NEED to fill out their own I-864A forms. Additionally, you will need to submit a proof of relationship showing the relationship between the sponsor (primary or joint, who filled out form I-864) and their household member whose income is being used for the sponsorship (and who will fill out form I-864A).

(1)My scan date was 08 February but after I received the police report we sent a copy of that to NVC and they sent me a new scan date 16 February.

So what do you think my real scan date is???

(2) After getting a visa, how many months it will be valid, I mean within how many months we should enter the USA? (I will be able to resign my job only after October)

Your visa will be valid for six months after the date of your medical. Provided you enter within that six-month period, you're good.

Thanks a lot.

I can for sure make a visit to my husband as soon as I will get the visa.

But after 1 month stay I have to come back to Sri Lanka and stay working until I will get my promotion in October (that will make a big gratuity money when I will resign)

So for this second time, will I have to go embassy to renew my visa or what should I do about visa? Please help me.

Well first your Visa is voided the minute you enter US. No need to get another Visa you have the green card stamp in your passport. Just make sure you keep your stay under 6 months or you could have issues trying to enter.
