3 weeks after getting noa2 in mail??? ?? why do they take so much time.... Well haven't received any noa2 in mail yet hopefully soon. Well we can soon start this second waiting phase ? All the best because i guess you were the first or second one to get approval in September filers ??

Why so long? Could be because NVC receives 15,000 petitions a week. Yes a week. That's alot of work and paper to get through.

Not important getting your NOA2 in the mail. 2 weeks after your NOA2 that's when you start calling NVC to ask for your Case#.

Getting through NVC demands you be proactive and get use to calling.

My petition left USCIS 7 days after NOA2. Arrived at NVC 7 days later and logged in. Dec. 2nd. I got my Case# Dec. 17. 15 days later.

So NOA2 - 11/16

Case# - 12/17

No case number yet. The case entered the system the 14th of this month. Is there any point in calling since they gave me 40 days or so. Or has anyone received it earlier?

Case# probably will be assigned 14 to 28 days from them receiving.

Maybe not likely for Jamaica. The wait after CC is 3 to 4 months. So add that to the 2 to 3 months of processing. I still have October people waiting for an interview date.

Yikes  ! Ah well, better get used to this waiting game... Waited 5 months doing nothing at all at the onset so I suppose another 6 months won't kill me. Thanks

Our case hasn't received a case number yet (arrived at NVC on 12th February, so I'll give them some time before I have to listen to that music again), but I'm trying to be proactive with getting materials for the AOS and IV, and I was wondering a bit about the IRS transcripts. Are IRS transcripts from 2014 counted as the latest tax year? Or is it possible to get one from 2015 already? I really don't understand the US tax system, and my google fu has failed me!

Any interview taking place after April 15th of this year will be required to bring updated tax returns for 2015. If you file for an extension, you must bring that evidence as well. It takes about 8 weeks to get your transcripts from the IRS once you have submitted your returns. If your interview falls within that gap, bring copies of your submitted returns.

It took 15 days for us to get our case number. You don't have much longer. You can request your 2014 tax transcripts but you will have to submit a copy of your tax return with W2 for 2015. Tax transcripts will not be available right now for 2015.

Good choice!

Latest tax year is 2014, but since your interview will take place after April, which starts the new fiscal year, then you'll need the 2015 transcript.

But will 2015 tax transcript be available already ?? My scan date is Feb 1st. Thinking to ask my husband to get that tax thing ready. Or just print it out from turbotax.

" NVC will send your relative a packet of forms that you and your relative must fill out before your relative can be given an interview date with a consulate abroad. The packet will likely contain an Of-169 form, and an Of-230 part one and two forms that must be filled out by the intending immigrant."

Old information doesn't apply. No they send nothing to your house for you to fill out.

Pleas read the NVC Process wiki so you know all you need to do and the Petitioner also. http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

And no way to know when you will get an interview since you have no arrived yet or started at NVC. Much of what happens at NVC as far as speed depends on you. The 30 to 45 day process after yo send in documents you have no control over.

Just read this. I will receive forms at my home to fill up too?

Why would you have to wait until October to December? Try to get your documents together as quickly and accurately as possible. Like we've been telling you, this process goes as quickly as YOU want it to go. Your case was approved on 2/18, so even this Friday, 2/26, start calling NVC to see if they received your petition. they may tell you a scripted answer like "it can take up to 60 days for us to receive your petition from USCIS." don't freak out about that. call again next week and keep calling them everyday if you want to until they confirmed receipt of your petition. Then wait a week and start calling them again about a case number. dwheels76 said it can take up to a month, but she didn't say wait a month to find out. They could assign your case in 10 days......we are all telling you the same point....be proactive and read!!!! NVC isn't going to reach out to you to say they received your case. You should receive a welcome letter (email) once your case number and Invoice Identification Number (IIN) is assigned but that's not always sent immediately. Why wait for them to reach out to you?

Where are you reading about a OF-169 and OF-230? I've checked the Department of State's website and don't see anything on there, not even when I search for it. I think they may be old forms that are not valid anymore because the NVC doesn't mail you any forms. Everything is done online now. The DS-261 (Choice of Agent) form, paying the AOS fee, paying the IV fee and completing the IV application are all done online. the only thing YOU would print off from their website is the appropriate 864 form relevant to you. Then you'll submit all your AOS and IV documents along with the 864 form and mail it to NVC. the only part you can't control is how quickly NVC processes your AOS and IV documents and issues a case complete. it could be anywhere from 30-45 days after they receive your documents.

Take a look at my timeline in my signature. Hopefully, I will have a case complete by end of March at the latest, which means my total time at NVC will have been 2 months. (Praying for no checklist). Once NVC says case complete, then we wait for an interview date and time from Mumbai. In my case, I think it might be a May interview for my husband. Which means total time from NVC receiving my petition to interview could only be 4 months.

You really need to read and familiarize yourself with the process so you feel more confident about it. Both links (VJ's NVC process and Dept of State's) have been given to you in other posts and other threads. Don't let yourself get depressed or overwhelmed by this whole process. That's easy to do when you don't fully understand it. You and your husband could be together by the middle of the summer.....Let that be the focus of getting your documents together quickly.

Hang in there and read!!!!
