I just hung up with nvc and they told me my case was complete yet when i check the summary it doesn't show the 3N/A s what does that mean?

So i just read the NVC guide and yes, it´s very helpful :-)

One question though: It says i can send photocopies. Do they have to be certified copies or are "regular" copies okay since i will bring the originals to the interview anyway? I´m talking about the supporting documents for the beneficiary (me) such as birth certificate, police record and the passport copy.

Plus i´m still unsure about contacting the NVC or not. Should i start calling them about the case number & invoice identification number or shall we just wait until we hear something?

If you have the original documents then making photocopies is perfectly acceptable. If you don't have the originals then certified copies are going to be asked for.

Did you get a text or email notification that your petition was approved? If so, you will get a text and email notifying you that your case has been updated again. this time it will say it's been sent to the Department of State (NVC). They usually send it within a week after your approval. I had to wait about 12 days before I got the notification. Then exactly a week later, they confirmed they had just received it. Then exactly a week after that they had my case number. (Getting a case number that quickly isn't the norm though. I lucked out. most times it's about 2 weeks to 4 weeks.)

Once NVC receives your case, wait about a week then start calling them once a week....or everyday like I did. Don't wait for them to send you something....you'll wait awhile. be proactive.

Congrats to everyone with a CC today! My Scan date is 01/08 and I fly out Sunday to spend 30 days with my husband, it would be so amazing to bring with me a CC.

Ya, it's similar to RFE. The checklist is a list of documents that they are saying is missing and you need to send it in. The hope is not to get one because it delays the process.

Meh, I hope that won't happen. Went thru the NVC website and I think I got all we need. We got a RFE for the I-130 (no biggie, was resolved fast)but still I hope there will be no further delay. But with all the help around here...Hey, what could possibly go wrong? :-D

Hey, how is it going? Quick question for you...I was told to avoid traveling to the US until the petition process is over (even with proof of ties). Were you told otherwise? I ran into issues last time I traveled at US Customs and the officer was quiet tough. Just wanted to see if you can share your experience on traveling. Thanks

While our I-130 was being processed my husband and I flew in to Florida from Canada together to be here for my Nephews birth , we told the TSA man that we were filing for my husbands green card, and we had only expected to be here for 2 months, the gentleman gave my husband a 6 month visitor visa and we took full advantage of it (:

I think NVC is picking up the pace. They received my petition exactly 1 week ago, 2/01, and I called tonight and the nice guy i spoke with, George, said just finished assigning a case number and IIN. wooohoooooooooo!!!

He said to wait until I get a letter from NVC about what to do next, but since I've been reading Dept of State website since last July and VJ has been super helpful, i knew what to do. I already submitted the DS-261!
