Just to be 100% safe, I printed it out and then wrote "N/A" or "None" in every single blank field, including all the Alien Registration Number, ELIS account number, interpreter and preparer sections--and then scanned it in and sent that as the final document (Canada has electronic processing). Make sure you sign in blue ink for the 'Sponsor's Signature' section so they are sure that its an original and not a copy. Good luck!

Thank you!

Holy cow....I.didnt realize I was supposed to do any of this for the forms. I just left the blank stuff blank. Now I think I'll be getting a checklist rather than a CC at the end of my 45 days.

I think the blue ink thing has gone by the wayside. Someone actually got checklisted for using it a week or so ago.

Holy Cow--I just did a search for 'Checklist-Blue Ink' and saw a ton of posts for people checklisted for signing in blue ink! I did sign my I-486 in blue ink and thank god I didn't get a checklist.

I did see one post that said since the I-864 is a legal contract (for sponsorship), they require black ink for the signature. But since we decided to use electronic processing (an option in Canada), I signed in blue so that they could tell that we scanned an original document and not a copy. Just to be safe, I'm going to reprint and sign the I-864 in black ink for my wife to bring to her interview.

It's crazy that it seems to cut both ways---I also saw posts from people getting RFE's at the UCSIS stage for sending in documents signed in BLACK ink, because it was suspected they were sending copies. Thank god we made it through both stages without any crazy hitches!

Well, don't worry yourself unnecessarily just yet---they may not flag your forms for not doing this for every blank field--I was just being somewhat super cautious.

BUT, the one common thing that I have seen people posting about getting a checklist at this stage is leaving the sponsor's Physical Address fields blank, even if its the same as the Mailing Address directly above and you check 'yes' on the form for having the same mailing address as physical address. Just be completely safe and enter the exact same info in both sections.

Yes, I will sign in black ink. When I saw the post about it I checked the form and sure enough on the form itself where it says "Start here" it says "Type or print in black ink."

I'm so thankful for VJ! we can learn so much from each other, including learning from each other's mistakes.

For those that have CC already.....if/when you completed your I-864EZ, when you printed for signature and date, did you go back and write in "N/A" for anything that was left blank? Or with the new form, is it safe to leave it blank without fear of getting a checklist?

I wrote N/A in the blank spaces.

Case complete, seen three na and called to confirm. Scan date 12/28

Congrats!!

Congrats!

I know they close at midnight, not sure if they stop processing cases at a certain time and it's just a call center taking calls but if they don't stop..its possible that your number will soon come. Hang on...its coming!
