POE Calais ME - anyone had any experience/advise

Hi there;

My husband (USC) and myself plan to activate my CR1 visa at the Calais entry point on Feb. 22nd. I will also be importing my car at the same time. I have all my visa paper work, have paid the fees, have the paperwork from the moving company who will be moving my unaccompanied goods, and I have a clean certificate of conformity for my car (my car confirms to all US Federal Safety and EPA rules so nothing needs to be done except change the speedo electronically (setting in the on board computer) from kms to miles), So here is my question.

Has anyone had an experience crossing at Calais? any issues, any advise? anything I am forgetting?

Not Calais, but I crossed at Houlton ME, so pretty close! All I needed for immigration was my passport w/visa, the sealed envelope from the consulate, and 6$ USD. For my car, I had my registration, letter from the manufacturer, and photos (that I took and printed ahead of time) of the EPA sticker under the hood and of the safety sticker inside my door. I think the pictures saved the officer from having to go outside to look at my car, so in my case it was worth doing and saved us a bit of time. Btw it's important to tell them you're importing your car otherwise they will let you through without giving you the forms you need to register your car in the US.
