I'm not sure if this forum will help or making my headache's worst. My head is about to explode trying to find way to bring my niece to live with me here in the state. My niece is 10 years old and she lives in Indonesia. My sister passed away about 5 years ago with a cancer and my niece’s father has recently died of a heart attack. My niece currently resides with her grandmother (her father’s side), but her grandmother couldn’t care for her because she’s beginning to develop an Alzheimer. I’m looking to adopt her by filing for I-30 but it stated that I must reside with her for a minimum of 2 years in Indonesia? I can’t afford leaving behind my job, husband and my own children for 2 years to live in Indonesia. Is there any waiver that allows me to adopt my niece for filing I-30 without having me to stay with her for 2 years in Indonesia? In addition, I looked at I-600, and it seems too complicated because it's only pertain to an orphanage organization. Are there any other visas out there that allow her to live with me, my husband, and children here in the state?

Whether you can adopt or not would be down to Indonesian Law.

As you have mentioned that does not bring any direct immigration benefit with it, think of the fraud issues if it did.

Maybe a F1 Student Visa, only thing that comes to mind.
