I don't have income, joint sponsor only using assets

I am a student, and make very little income (not enough to file taxes). My aunt doesn't work so she has no income, but she has properties/assets that are well above the 125% poverty guidelines.

Can my aunt be a joint sponsor listing only her assets?

Yes your joint sponsor can use assets. She needs 5 times the poverty guidelines for her household size. 3 times is only when sponsoring a spouse or child.

Im not understanding this 5 times or 3 times. Can you tell me,if my husband doesnt have enough income my father in law and mother in law both can be a joint sponsor with husband or only one or three of them. How much should they actually earn to qualify? So confusing.

It's 5 times if the immigrant isn;t your child or spouse. So your household is 2 so it's 19012 X 5=99,560, then need in assets.

If he needs both mom and dad to joint sponsor then he would need both. Then need to make the poverty guidelines of their household size plus your husband.

Long as someone makes the poverty guidelines for their household size plus hubby they can be the joint sponsor.

Also to note the assets must be well documented. A primary home or car cannot be used. A secondary home or car CAN be used but they must be appraised and any amount owed (mortgage or loan) on the asset be subtracted from the appraised value. The final result is the actual amount of asset that may be used towards assets. Same goes with anything that charges fees to withdraw the money. The value of the asset is after all fees and deductions. In essence, it is the CASH value.

Using assets can be complex.

Also for this visa class you cannot have more than 1 joint sponsor. Your joint sponsor, however, can have HOUSEHOLD members, who combine their income with the joint sponsor. Those household members fall into specific requirements as per the I-864 and I-864a instructions.
