Hello, a US Citizen wants to petition sibling who is 89 years old. What are the requirements to petition an 89 year old sibling to the US? And is it worth it? How long would it take? If able to petition the 89 year old sibling, can the 89 year old sibling be accompanied by a care taker to travel to the US and then returned back within a week?

Thank you in advance for your prompt response and assistance,

Malou

I say go for it.

Somebody immigrating in ther 110's.

Just think of the media coverage!

Hello, a US Citizen wants to petition sibling who is 89 years old. What are the requirements to petition an 89 year old sibling to the US? A USC sibling willing to petition for the 89 years old. And is it worth it? No. He/She will be 112-113 years old by the time a visa is available. How long would it take? 23-24 years for a visa. If able to petition the 89 year old sibling, can the 89 year old sibling be accompanied by a care taker to travel to the US and then returned back within a week? Yes, but caretaker must qualify for his/her own visa. There is no visa to accompany the immigrant.

Thank you in advance for your prompt response and assistance,

Seems almost cruel

It does, moving someone at age 89 seems iffy never mind 100 plus.

Its a tall order since it takes so long, maybe visiting & returning home would be a better option

we all will get old if we live long enough, seniors are most times treared by society like yesterdays

news or an after thought, no one will want to hear negatives of their age in time to come. The

reality is that an immigrant petition may outlast the beneficiary. If the sibling is alert active &

can travel, have them visit

Travel Insurance could be very tricky and it a loooong trip at that age.

No harm in trying if they have the money to lose and it's what they want to do. But it does seem futile.
