GUZ Guangzhou 2016 - K1/CR1 IV Interview Appt Scheduling

Got it! March 21st.

After speaking to a very friendly CGI Stanley agent on the phone, she was puzzled why she saw the earliest appointment notification but could not get an appointment for us. Finally, she thought the issue was our CGI email account was originally created for B1/B2 visa, which may prevent the system from scheduling an immigrant visa interview this time around (regardless how we filled out the application steps).

This agent "converted" the account to immigration visa, and we got through to the calendar within minutes.

Ours was too, just had to go through it and select the right visa and all that, it was even in the P3 instructions

See, now this is the stupid thing. They released all of March at the same time. It's been up long enough now that I would assume most everyone waiting since pre-CNY has or should have managed to book an appointment. So why in Mao's name would they not just release it prior to CNY so everyone could make plans early?

GFrankly, thanks for this valueble information. We have been trying for past 6 months to get an appointment. From time to time we see Earliest Appointment Notification date on left hand side of dashboard but still gets the no appointment available message, CGI was no help and GUZ response was to keep trying, which we have been doing everyday.

We've just put in request to CGI to check our account type, hoping for good news.

BTW, March 28th is shown as available at the moment. we still get the no appointment available message, hopefully this date information helps someone else at the moment.

What Chris said is true.

Last time they released dates was in January, once around noon time in China and once around 6pm in China. Both on a Friday.

So the only time there would be slot open would be when someone else canceled their appointment, but we all know that's unlikely.

Good luck to all!

Hey J&Y, may I ask for the P3 you received, you got it before scheduling. Do you think it is ok if we just send in stuff on the P3 without receiving the P3 yet, and schedule first. I know its only Ds160 confirmation, 2 photos and PP info page.

What is the case number on the top of the 1 sheet P3 letter? is it GUZ2016xxxxxxx?

Thanks

Yes, it is the case #. GUZ followed by numbers.

As for your question, tbh, I don't know if you can do that.

Freddy, we are stuck in the same boat, no P3 yet. I looked at the P3 that J&Y attached in a different thread, part of the instructions of the P3 was to send the Instruction letter along with the requested documents back to the Embassy. So I don't think we can send the information without having a P3 to return back to them.

As a result, since the P3 has not been delivered yet, I do not want to schedule an appointment, just incase the appointment arrives before the P3 arrives.

For anyone still looking to schedule their visa appointment I found visualping to be an effective method of monitoring the dashboard for date updates and I know there are other extensions that do basically the same thing if you don't like that one. Basically just set it up to run on your dashboard in the ustraveldoc site and alert you to any page changes.

It looks like they did atleast the first half of March. Megaflex got March 3rd, and saw the 7th through the 9th available.

When I looked I saw the 14th through the 16th, but went to bed after that, I don't know if they did more or not.

I would have loved to book our appointment last night, but we have not received P3 yet. We have her police clearances, and all of the documents aside from the medical for the interview prepared. We just have no idea what needs to be mailed to the Embassy for P3 prior to the interview.

Hey Chris and Zhijia,

when you see the next batch of dates, you may want to book, you can reschedule up to 5 times. I had the DS160 number fiasco and cancelled 4 times that day and received a final 5th warning that its last cancel. So I am stuck with a date while waiting for P3s and P4. May have to pay MVC fee again.

GUZ replied to my email.. pre interviewing processing, please wait. NVC said, processing please wait.

I saw people getting P3 in 10 days, some 1 week, some a few months.. why the big discrepancy if there are no RFEs in between.. sigh.. office went on vacation? Idle?

Also, P3 is just 2 photos, DS160, passport page, cover letter P3.... why the big delay? beats me.

Yeah I'm not sure, but I don't want to schedule a date that we can't guarantee, because I will be taking time off work to be in China with her.

yes Chris, I think the interview dates are so rare that once you see one, you may want to reserve it like 6 weeks out. By the time P3 or P4 arrives, its another 12 weeks out. After P3 arrive, more or less then you can make concrete plans based off the reserved date. If no P3 arrive, just reschedule on CGI... just my 2 cents idea.

Heads up for the BJ health check.

Assuming they have no health records or vax records, you spouse will be getting 3 jabs. They will not do this same day. First day will be the tests and 2 jabs. Second day is the 3rd jab.

It opens up at 7:30am, I advise parking underground, it's just easier that way, that place is a zoo. Numbers are over on the counter. If you show up around 6:30 you will pretty much be guaranteed to be #1 (unless someone else reading this also does it). After 7am it's a crapshoot, by 7:10 there were 30 some and by 7:20 it was standing room only. Late comers were turned away at 8ish.

You will need:

2 printouts of the P4 notification letter

2 printouts of the embassy appointment confirmation

2 printouts of the exam appointment

8 30x40mm photos

1 copy of the passport

If you are like us and totally forgot the P4, there's a printer place down on 2nd floor, but they won't be in till 9am. You can print it up in the nurse's office if you are crafty about it. For copies, there's a place on the 23rd floor and there's a copier in the guardshack on the otherside of the elevators. The guard will be a jerk, wait till he's gone and the stuttery guard will let you plug it in and copy if you know how to use it. Just make sure it's loaded with paper.

They will officially say it takes 5 business days, but call after 4 days instead around noon. If you can get in before 3:30 you can snap it up.

Ignore the embassy instructions claiming it's 5 photos and 888 kuai, that's bull. They'll swipe cards though so whatever.
