So I just want to make sure this is totally fine - my passport is in my old last name and GC will be in married name so when I book flight tickets I will book tickets with my passport name bring GC + marriage certificate to show legal name change at us border right?!

Don't want to risk not getting back because of different names on passport and GC.

That is the gist of what everyone that has successfully done any international travel recommends You should read some of the myriad of success stories in the work and travel forum.

Good luck on your Immigration journey.

Yes, generally the CBP will not check your passport if you have a GC, but keep the marriage certificate with you just in case. Also, make sure you book your tickets in your passport name to avoid issues at the airline check-in.

Good Luck!
