Biometrics Appt - K1 AoS

Just filed our AoS from K1.

Got NOA1s couple of weeks ago and just got biometric appointment letter. Can anyone share what takes place aside from fingerprinting and perhaps how long to expect? Trying to see how much time if I need to take from work... our appointment is in the middle of the day.

I did mine yesterday and it took me five minutes since there was only 1 person there when I got there. It depends on how busy your local office is. But all they do is take your fingerprints, and photo, and make you fill out a form that says how much you weigh, how tall you are, birthdate, eye and hair color, and previous names. It will also ask you what your case numbers are and your A number.

That's it, that is all that they do! It took us longer to get to the local DHS office, wait for my family's appointment, and then drive home, ~1- 1.5 hours (depending on traffic). Be sure to follow the instructions on the I-797c ASC appointment form.

Ours took 1.5 hrs at the biometrics office itself in Elizabeth NJ on a Friday afternoon. My wife said she had some 25 people waiting before her turn came up.

The photo taken during the biometrics will be the one used for the Green Card.

Does anyone know if when you get your biometrics letter, can you show up to the office before your appointment and do able to get it done in New York City?
